it may surprise some of you when i admit today that I am a bit of a Trey
at least when it comes to wait staff and sales people.
i am usually a strongly opinionated, independant woman. i stand up for my beliefs and i don't take crap from anyone.... but for some reason any suggestion from either of these types of people usually results in a wholehearted "Alrighty!" from me, no matter what my original intent was... i am the reason that pushy sales people continue to be pushy (please, hold all applause until later). I go to the MAC counter to replenish my supply of Lip Glass, and all it takes is some gentle prodding from the sparkly eye-lidded sales gal and one "alrighty" later i have spent the better part of my paycheck on eye shadows and eye liners and mascara and some kind of glittery body powder.
and last week, Andy and i were at D Bar in Dorchester for our weekly Wednesday gossip session. i decided after my first glass of cabernet, that i was really in a white wine mood so i ordered a glass of pinot grigio only to have the waitress say "you really can't switch from red to white..we have a LOVELY pinot noir". and i am all "alrighty!". i looked at the menu later and saw that that particular wine was the most expensive red on the menu. but as usual the "alrighty" curse strikes again.
and what makes it all the more ironic is when I was a commission based sales girl, working in the shoe department of Lord & Taylor in college, i was SO not the pushy sales type. I was an "alrighty" gal even then. "Would you like to see this in a black pump?" "NO" "Alrighty!" wheras the more successful people on the sales floor would harp "Come on! How about in red? in blue?" and they would be the ones who did oodles of sales and got all the awards.
i guess my real point is that in the sales/commission based business, annoyingness pays. there will alwaays be Treys like me who will do whatever you suggest and I should know, I am one.

I just re-watched the episode where Trey and Charlotte get engaged on OnDemand the other day - I love it!
