well, i feel better about the world now.

i took the day off from work to go get estimates, deal with my insurance, and make sure my car was drivable (which it is thank god!). luckily the damage is cosmetic, but unluckily i am a snot who does not want to drive around with a smashed and cracked bumper. i KNOW people are looking at me being like "omg that girl canNOT drive! look at her car" and you know what i say to them? i say "i look good, i do what i want. i drive FABULOUSLY...it is the parking that always gets me!"

whatevs. as my mom said to me REPEATEDLY "it's only a car. it's only money". so if i learn anything from this experience it is if the gas station attendant tells you to back up, and you know that you don't have to, DON'T DO IT.

the funny part is that one of my coworkers (who may or may not be affiliated with a certain organized criminal activity) called and left a cryptic message on my machine "sarah. do not cry. i think i can help you with your car. call me back on my cell". so i call her back. expecting that she will give me the name of a nice, cheap mechanic and instead she asks me a few key details about my accident, and then proclaims "you can get some money from this"

excuse me?

"listen, you need a certain kind of legal advice. i know someone who can provide you with this advice free of charge..i will give him your number if you don't mind"

(and then she told me not to tell anyone, but you guys don't count, right?)

so i say "sure, why not?" because if nothing else it will make a good story. unfortunately this "legal advice giver" called while i was at the auto claims center so we'll see what kind of shenanigans he has in store for me tomorrow. he has a very thick Russian accent, and left me no info on my machine other than his name, that he got my name from my coworker, and his #.

interesting.

(disclaimer: i am a completely non litiguous person, and this accident is 100% my fault.... but i like to hear about shady dealings)

so now i am off to try and quell the last of my car crash blues by going mist on tanning.

thank you all so much for your kind words. you guys kick all sorts of ass.

Let's be real...I mainly kick fat ass. ;-)

That is awesome about the shady dealings. Keep me posted. And don't go alone. Go with your boy. In a well-lighted area. With lots of people. Think restaurant.

Glad to hear everything worked out.

I've been driving around for the past few months with a busted mirror and big dent in the driver's side door/hinge area due to an incident with a cement pillar. Parking is not my forte either!

I also lost a hub cap on Storrow Drive a few months ago. Old Red's not looking so hot these days. But I still look good! ;-)

Uhm, he has your name and your phone number. Be careful, 'k?

While I think it's cool that you have shady connections, I agree that you should probably not talk about it anymore. The likelihood of those people reading blogs is minimal, but be careful. You don't want to owe anyone any favors.

guys, you worry too much. i talked to him and he is just an ambulance chasing lawyer who wants me to sue the gas station i crashed my car in front of. it's NO big deal. i do appreciate the concern though ;-)
