my opinion on current events:
first of all: The Pacers and Pistons Melee
i have heard alot of hullaballoo about the prison record of John Green, the gentleman who threw the cup that supposedly started this whole thing. i find his past to be irrelevant. the point is, Ron Artest should NOT have gone into the stands. is he retarded? athletes depend on their fans, and somethining like this leaves a bad taste in peoples' mouths for a long time to come. Especially since he didn't even punch out John Green, but some other random guy standing next to him. A pro athlete is to a sports fan as I am to a bratty small child. No matter how annoying the child is, I can't just deck him/her as I see fit, even if he or she throws a beer at me. I have to be the bigger person because I am the bigger person. Ron, you make millions of dollars a year mostly because these people pay to see you play and buy your merchandise. If I were you, and someone threw a beer at me, I would have yelled something about how poor that guy must be compared to me, a multi million dollar althete. That guy should not have thrown his beer, but drunk fans can be stupid..we all know this. You should have been above this. I will not be buying your "non-rap, all about love" CD.
second of all: Rumsfeld backing Bush on Intelligence Reform
I don't know how Rumsfeld can say "I support the President's position" and then when asked what that position is, say "It's evolving". What's up with that? "What is you think about pointy toed shoes? "My position is evolving". Do you, or do you not have an opinion?? you must have an opinion of some kind right at this moment!! Granted, your opinion on shoe shapes may not (to some) be as important as intelligence reform but still, I am not a fan of this kind of "support no matter what". You should be able to form your own opinions ESPECIALLY when you are so key a member of the President's cabinet. Lord knows Bush needs all the help he can get so at least get your own opinion and then clue him into it. Isn't that how he works anyway?
and now for local news:
Working on One End of Rt 128 and Living on the Other End
Living in Quincy and working in Newton ain't what it's cracked up to be. Granted, I work in the Auburndale section of Newton which is pretty quaint..lots of cute little shops to peruse on my lunch break, a few pretty parks...but getting here is straight up a b*tch. I am used to commuting to and from BOSTON..where the traffic has rhyme and reason. I know that traffic. I can navigate that traffic. This suburbia craziness i something else altogether. I drive in at 10AM and it's backed up for miles...like "rubbernecks slowing down to see an accident" slow and yet there is not even some grisly accident to neccesitate such slowness. Then i drive in at 9AM and it's clean and fast...not a traffic jam in site? Why? and i leave at the same time every night...Tuesday night it took me about 40 minutes to get home, with a little stop and go..nothing I couldn't handle..but last night it took 90 minutes to get home! and the whole time a red snake of traffic curled out in front of me like some fabulous glittery brooch. I started listening to NPR, people. this is how stir-crazy I was. so i never know what time i will get home or what time i will get to work exactly. it's a gamble either way.
ok, that is enough current events for now. i now must get back to my nursing school applications. Student Nurse Sarah....it has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
