thank you, boston marathon, for giving me a much needed 3-day weekend. i am supposed to be with my work peeps on hereford st, cheering on dave c. who is running for the first time. instead i am in derry NH, watching baseball and sipping iced coffee..comtemplating doing my toenails. life is good!

i may have to take another three day weekend next week, although for a more legitimate reason than watching thousands of sweaty people puff through boston. as we all know, i am heading to DC on saturday night with Nicky for the March for Women's Lives. we board the bus at 11PM saturday. arrive at the National Mall at 6AM sunday.....spend the whole day rallying and marching and rubbing elbows with whoppi g, julianne , and howard d, meet my friend megan for drinks and dinner and then get back on the bus at 11PM sunday, to arrive home at 6AM monday.

this makes for an extremely cracked out monday.

accordingly, i asked for that monday off a few weeks ago, and was begrudgingly allowed to take it off, but i feel more and more that i will spend all next week being guilt-tripped as is the MO in my office. take one day off, and spend the whole week hearing things like "well this didnt get done because you weren't here on monday" and "SOMEONE will have to tell michael why this ad was never placed". as if my job is so complicated that no one can possibly do any of it besides myself. trust me, my job is as complicated as instant jello. people in my office just LOVE to bitch.

of course i will somewhat enjoy showing up for our monday meeting in my hot pink one-strap "this is what a feminist looks like" shirt.
