andy has put alot of pressure on me. i will try to rise to the occasion, although i am out of my mind with hunger, and subsisting on 2 week old dried mango slices from trader joe's. never order from the amsterdam cafe unless you are prepared to wait 3 hours. in other words, i should have ordered lunch while i was drinking my breakfast. jeez.
so last night we learned that i am the macgyver of broken shoes. for the third time in my life, my shoe broke in half on a city street. i was crossing boylston street, it was pouring rain, it was 11 at night. i tried to dash across the street despite the glaring red "do not walk". i stepped into a 6inch deep puddle about halfway across the street and emerged with only one shoe. i fished despertely for the other one and found that the strap had broken clean off. damn. and a whole T ride home still ahead of me.
the solution presented itself in the form of using two hair elatics to bind the sole to my foot. i looked ridic, but i did not catch malaria from being barefoot on the mbta so it was worth it.
in my experiences as broken-shoe-girl, i have also found that duct tape, safety pins, and mailing labels can be equally effective if used in the right combination.
of course this means i must go shoe shopping after work for a replacement....;-)
