It's The Little Things in Life

A few weeks ago, there was a note on my car when I was leaving my office for the day.

No it was not a love note or even a flier for a local gym... in fact in this note someone somewhat rudely pointed out that I had parked in the wrong parking space. I wish I had saved the letter but it was something along the lines of "I saw you park your car and enter Office Building A. You are parked in an Office Building B spot. DO it again and watch yourself be towed." Now, I admit I did mistakenly park in the wrong spot but in my defense it was right next to the spot I could have parked in, and the company name that should have been painted in the spot was almost completely worn out. So, I did make a mistake BUT if the note-leaver watched me park my car in the wrong spot why not say something to me instead of leaving a stupid note? You can tell pretty much as soon as you leave the parking lot what building someone is walking to and if you have the time and energy to leave a note I think you should also have the time and energy to speak up. But I realize most people are much more comfortable leaving a passive aggressive note than actually confronting someone, so life goes on.

Soon after the Note Incident I started noticing this woman, hanging out in front of our buildings across from the parking lot a few times a week in the morning. She would chain smoke cigarettes and pay lots of attention to cars coming in, where they parked, and where their occupants went. Even running up to cars after the drivers exited and peering at the parking space under the car to see if it was marked with a company name or number.

I suppose this woman to be the passive aggressive note leaver. Someone who apparently has lots of spare time in the morning for UnOfficial Parking Attendant duties but no time to put a comb through her hair. I would cast her a somewhat dirty look when I happened to walk by her but until today had no other form of recourse.

Today when I pulled in, I found a great spot but noticed fairly quickly it was not one of my company's spot. In fact it had a gentleman's name on it. I saw the UnOfficial Parking Attendant pacing across the street and decided to give her a little exercise this morning. So I pulled into the spot and parked my car. I busied myself with getting my bags together, reapplying my lip gloss until she was about three feet away from me then I backed up and perfectly into the spot behind me (a non marked spot) and watched as she pretended she had some other business to attend to other than trying to be a parking space snitch.

I tell you, I had a little extra bounce in my step as I walked past her and into my office. Hey, it's a dreary Monday. You have to get your kicks where you can!

why do people with too much free time insist on making the rest of us miserable?

Excellent!
We have an UNofficial attendant in the mall where I own my business. She, however, got herself into trouble (no help from me, sadly) when she was using a bogus handicapped placard and kept calling the police when one of us (the business owners in the mall) would pull up into the spot every so briefly to unload and then move our cars. She made the mistake of calling on the building owner and all of a sudden she no longer parks in handicapped and has no placard! WEIRD.

Can you send her over to my apt complex? We need a good parking spot Nazi sometimes.

Ha ha. Good for you! You MUST check out this web site: http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com

Talk about entertaining! It's full of stories from people who have experienced a little passive agressive nonsense!

How freaking annoying!

Why do other people get so caught up in other people's business like this?

It's one thing if parking lot attendant is your job, but to do it, unofficially?
