Strike Two

So how is this for luck:

My second day driving with a broken foot and I get in a car accident.

THE FIRST CAR ACCIDENT I have ever been in where I am the driver (When I first got my license I had a penchant for dinging up my car on inanimate objects like walls and posts but that has long since passed and I have never hit or been hit by another car).

And I should mention since I just blogged about how I am driving with a broken foot that it's not what you think. It had nothing to do with my foot but rather I was driving along just fine on the Columbia Road rotary when some asshat plowed right into my drivers side door trying to cut across and get off at his exit. I got spun halfway around and hit the curb but somehow luckily managed to regain control of my car, get it turned around and pull over without further damage.

AWESOME.

My poor crumpled car.

She is driveable and I suppose will be okay. I filed the claim and had her appraised and now I just wait. My mom said I shouldn't be upset because no one was hurt and it's just a material thing that can be fixed and I know she is right but I AM UPSET.

I am pissed off that I broke my foot and it takes me forever to get around and dragging this stupid boot around wears me out and I am PISSED that someone crashed into my car and now it looks like shit and I am especially PISSSEEDD that these two things had to happen within a week or 2 of each other.

PISSED.

And you know, I can't help but feel this is karma of some kind kicking my ass. I bragged about never breaking a bone and broke my foot. I bragged about what a stellar driver I am and how I never have hit/been hit by another car and now this happens. I am a firm believer in bad things happening in threes so I have been cautiously calculating what else I have bragged aloud about lately and can only come up with is I mentioned last week that I have never really been in a fucked up relationship with a guy so maybe Adam will start shaving his eyebrows, wearing my bras, stretching out my sandals and asking to be called Madam and then I can consider this trifecta of bad luck OVER.

Who am I kidding a cross dressing boyfriend would be good times at this point.

Pity party of one over here, may I please order a bottle of wine and a straw?

UPDATE - TWO AND A HALF HOURS LATER

Well, 2 lime daquiris later I am in a better state of mind. And isn't it nice how small things can just change your whole outlook on things (and by small things I don't mean small doses of straight rum). What I mean relates directly to Betty White.

Now, I have always loved Golden Girls. In fact my senior year in college I based my schedule on the neccesity of being able to watch the 9AM and 9:30AM episodes on Lifetime. But in recent years I have not watched it as often being that my work wouldn't be that into me coming into work 2.5 hours late so as to catch up on the Blanche's latest shenanigans. But recently the brilliant idea to set up a "Series Recording" on the DVR struck me and so now I constantly have a fresh supply of Golden Girls to watch. Since it has been a while since I have been an avid watcher, I have found myself wondering a lot as of late "Why did Rose leave the counseling center?". If you watch the show it was the perfect job for her and yet how come in earlier episodes she works there and in later shows she works for Enrique Mass doing consumer reports? Why the switch? I am serious when I tell you this question plagued me whenever I watched the show lately. And then today, my pity party day, the episode airs where we find that she left the counseling center because Charlie's pension ended and they didn't pay her enough. OF COURSE. How did I forget?

Golden Girls, there in the clutch to answer my queries! That is enough to to put me in a good frame of mind. As long as there are cocktails and Golden Girls...all will be alright!!!

Oh girl. It's the spring of shitty luck. I too believe in the 3's but I've had bad luck in like the 10's over the past few weeks so f that theory.

Here's to summer and shitty luck turning around. Feel better soon.

sorry, girl! i don't even know what to say, other than THAT SUCKS!
in other news, i heart the golden girls too. last year (or perhaps it was the summer before last) lifetime had a g.g. trivia game. do you remember that? i ended up scoring like a 3000 on one round. i'm that obsessed and have seen every episode at least 10 times. so, i totally new why rose left that job. hahaha!!!! i have too much time on my hands apparently. ;-)

O.M.G.

Friday clearly can't come quick enough!!!

Thankfully you weren't hurt worse!
Ugh, but insurance paperwork, and needing the car fixed is most definitely a headache. :(

That totally sucks about the car! At least you didn't break any other bones! And Golden Girls? Lifetime every day at 4 and 4:30. I always try to catch the 4:30 if I can. Isn't it great??

That really sucks, but I'm glad you're OK! I've been finding recently that a lot of people are asshats and cannot drive at all (like the person who hit you).

I LOVE the Golden Girls! I haven't watched in forever! I miss it!

So sorry about the accident! Your mom is right, but of course you're still upset!! It's a very upsetting situation and although everything will be ok, there's no harm in being sad.

But at least you have Golden Girls and daquiris to help cheer you up!

I had to laugh because when I was in college, I watched Golden Girls every night on Lifetime. My roommate and I would always block off that hour to sit in front of our little TV on top of the mini fridge.

Ugh so sorry about the foot and then the car accident. (Murphy's Law?) It can only get better I promise. "The Golden Girls" is my all-time favorite! Some of the best comedy written in years. Thank goodness for re-runs. I hope today is going better for you :-)
