Stick With Me

My best purchase this season occured not at the Coach Outlet this past weekend, not at TJ Maxx (as you may suspect), not at the South Shore Plaza last week but at another surprising (but with me just as likely) establishment.

CVS.

Every year around this time, we shelve our boots and pumps and sensible shoes and break out the sandals and peep-toes and flip flops. And inevitably, even if the shoes themselves are not new we suffer the pains of re-breaking in our spring and summer shoes, our feet suffering as they get used to straps and open toes. Never mind breaking in brand NEW shoes that always feel great in the store but about three hours into their first day of wear you are dying to go barefoot, right?

Well thanks to this little discovery, suffer no more!

I was actually in the Band-Aid aisle searching for the Blister Block band-aids when I found this, the Activ-Flex Blister Block STICK. It claims to prevent blisters from even happening by stopping friction between your foot and the shoe. As someone who has purchased a fair amount of new spring/summer shoes in the past month, and being that I am always on the search for anything to cut down on the "breaking down and buying a pair of cheap flip flops because I am in such agony" factor, I decided to put them to the test and slicked some on the top of my feet and my heels before slipping into some brand new patent black ballet flats.

Initial reaction? It smells great and feels fine, not slimy or weird.
Later reaction? I actually forgot I was even testing this product because my feet did not bother me AT ALL so I paid them no mind. No new shoe cutting into the top of my feet, no blisters on my heel. No pain at all.

At the end of the day I was utterly blister free.

Great success!!!

This is a brand new product and it's a little hard to find because I go to CVS all the time and when I purchased this it was the last stick in the store and the few times I have been back over the past week I have seen either none, orn just one next to a ravaged display in the bandage section. So if you have suffered the pain of breaking in a shoe get thee to CVS and snatch this little stick of fantasticness up. It's small, too so you can just carry it in your handbag!

It will be the best $7 you ever spend. I promise you.

Weird! It looks almost like foot deoderant. I have no idea how that product works, but the fact that it does is very impressive!
What I'm searching for is some gel heel inserts to make my wedding flats fit and not slide off my heels and hit the floor like a pair of flip-flops. Let me know what you find in your CVS adventures!

I have to laugh at this one!! It is basically foot deodorant - regular stick (not the roll on kind) deodorant works just as well and is SO MUCH less expensive!!!!

that's defintely an inexpensive version of this but in my experience it doesn't work as well as the blister block stick.. which doesn't have the texture of a deoderant. glad you got a laugh though! :-P

I will totally try this. My feet are currently COVERED in blisters (because I am an idiot). thanks for the heads up, sarah.

It may be cheaper, but I can't see deoderant working as well. Also, I'm not going to ruin my new shoes with a chalky or gelly stick of deoderant. NO WAY. I love my shoes too much ... even if they do give me blisters!

yeah it's definitely more like foot chapstick. sounds hot, right?

I have been using Body Glide (same thing - different brand) for about five years now - they sell it in sports stores - used to prevent chafing so I put it under my sports bra strap for long runs, under my ipod strap and on the backs of my heels for rubbing against my sneakers - its a vitamin e and aloe mixture and really does a great job; about 2years ago I got wise and started using it not just for athletic purposes but with uncomfortable shoes - i have a great pair of RL giraffe print mules that I can literally wear for about 10 mintues b/f I want to cut my feet off - but with the body glide I can be in them all day.

I'm so glad you posted about this! I was just reading my new Allure magazine last night and they had all kinds of ads in it for this product! Of course, being a total product junkie (even non-beauty products) I wanted to try it. I'm glad to hear it works...I'm definitely getting it now! :)

Oh dear god, I must have this. My new Target peep toes are already starting to kill me - and it's only Day 2!

Oh man, how I wish I had known about this earlier this morning! I just walked to and back from a conference today and even my blisters have blisters and I am in a pair of flip flops purchased from my local Walgreens.... Too bad i didn't see this then!

Thanks for the heads-up! I can't wait to try it.

Oooh, I saw this advertised on TV and was intrigued, but now that the fashionable woman who knows everything about anything has given it 2 thumb up, I'm SO going to get some of this (as I look down at the poor red blister on my foot that I got this weekend from flip-flops...). If you want to save some $ on this purchase, you can print a coupon at this link:

Thanks again, Sarah!
