I Love Paris in the Springtime
When I heard Matt, who I am sure you have heard is a fantastic artist, was doing commisioned paintings for interested parties, I knew I had to have one.
I have a huge crush on all things Paris and Paris related (the fabulous city of lights, not the trampy heiress). So after emailing back and forth a bit we decided on a view of Paris from a rooftop, with the eiffel tower in the background. The colors, orange and yellow predominately, would compliment my living room (which is neutral but which I have accented with burnt orange, yellow and deep red). He and Jenny brought by the finished product last night and I have to say it is everything I wanted and MORE.
(I know it's a dark photo, but I could not figure out how to use the flash without getting a tremendous glare)
It looks so perfect in the living room, and last night Adam and I could not stop looking at it. I am sure my crappy photos don't do it justice, it is really gorgeous and exactly what we (read: I) wanted! So even if I can't quite yet afford a flat in the 8th Arrondismont with a rooftop terrace, I can look at this and pretend it's my view.
So a big thank you to Matt for bringing something so gorgeous into my life to brighten up my apartment and to all of you who haven't yet commisioned him for your own painting, get on it! You will not be dissapointed.

Big kudos to you for supporting local artists! You're always the first and most enthusiastic customer I have, which makes a gal feel good about the ill-paid career choice she's made.
I also buy "real" artwork. I bought an adorable painting this Christmas from my friend Jenny. It's hanging in my studio as inspiration. There's really nothing better than owning an original one-of-a-kind anything. (o:
aw! i have your "beeatch" hanging in my cubicle and my coworkers LOVE HER. i will try and remember to bring a camera into work soon so i can snap a pic and show you. her sassy/snarky little face gets me through the work day!
Haha! Me = happy. I think this Christmas, I'll be cranking those out to sell on Etsy. I still have that list we brainstormed. Don't you think I won't use it!
definitely!!! i know a few people who would get in line for a beeatch (beeyotch?) <3. or a beesus christ (he died for our stings!)
ahahahahah
so inappro. but so awesome.
hahaha! Especially around Christmas time. Maybe I should do a Bee-uddah to help cover some of the other world religions too?
The Christians are going to HATE on me.
Love art - I think it's great that you went with a local artist as well - it looks nice in your home..
That is gorgeous! Though I must admit, i've been secretely watching the progress on Hooker's website (linking from Caity's blog).
Oh my goodness, c'est tres magnifique!

His paintings are amazing!
I love buying art! You have definetly chosen well!
BTW, thanks for the link :)
I'm glad you like it so much. Especially with the whole crappiness of the past few weeks. Hopefully it's a little bit of a break.
