A few weeks ago my cousin sent me the kind of email that anyone would like to go.

"Hey Sarah, my company may be having our holiday party on the Odyssey, so the sales team invited us to for a free dinner/open bar night on the boat to test it out. My coworker and I can each bring one friend. Are you in?"

Oh Hell Yes!

And so last night we went over to Rowes Wharf to board the fabulous Odyssey for a night of wining and dining.

There were several other groups on board as well, some business types enjoying a company party, some couples our for a dinner on the sea, other small groups out celebrating. We settled on the Horizon deck with our cocktails and passed appetizers (did I mention it was open bar for us?). One of the marketing girls was nice enough to give us a tour of the whole ship and it was GORGEOUS. Lovely views, and it was a lovely night for a dinner cruise.

We then settled in for our meal (at the Captain's table!) and enjoyed several courses including salmon mousse and caviar, duck confit, and roasted chicken with boursin stuffing. The martini list was extensive and fabulous. And do not get me started on the desserts.

When we were touring the boat, we joked to the captain about the possibility of getting two desserts. He took us very seriously and upped the ante by sending over one of EACH dessert. Not too shabby. We only managed to get a bite of each, having just finished dinner, but it was DELICIOUS.

And Minda and Cathy, who I had never met before, were awesome girls. Minda won a special place in my heart early in the night when I remarked that we were clearly going to be "the rowdy table" given our mutual penchants for cocktails and innapropriate conversation topics, to which she replied "So what? At least we 're not paying for this like these chumps" motioning to the people sitting around us.

Chumps = a word that should be used more often, in my opinion.

So really, it's a great deal! Thinking about having a party on the Odyssey? Call them up and get a free dinner cruise so you can consider it over caviar and martinis!

So all in all, a fabulous way to spend an evening. If I had my way (and, oh an extra $10,000 lying around), I would throw a party there myself.

haha we almost had our company holiday party on the Odyssey .. except the minimum = $30,000. We were like "Um, it's pretty, but we're poor."

Looks like a lovely time.

Um, yeah...one of my roommate's bridesmaids (there are 8 of us) suggested giving her a little bachelorette dinner cruise sort of thing...she suggested this BEFORE checking prices. I didn't even need to check prices to know that our little group couldn't afford that. I'm way jealous that you go to go, though!! I LOVE little cruises like that.

For my best friend's mother's 60th birthday, they hired the Charles Riverboat Co. for a Charles River cruise. They leave from the Cambridgeside Galleria. Their prices look much more affordable (as in, actually affordable). Maybe for next year's Blogtoberfest??? :)
