i was going to write this whole post about how they should make an addendum to apartment leases that says you can't cook anything wretched-smelling and if MUST do so, you must lysol the hallways until they smell normal again...because the guy who lives downstairs cooked some kind of fish and sweat concoction (from what it smells like) and the WHOLE hallway upstairs and down reeked of it all weekend.
but then last night when i came home it smelled like bleach. and not just a faint whiff, but like someone had poured bleach over everything standing still in the common areas of the building.
it was so strong it stung my eyes.
but i'll take burning bleach over sweaty fish any day of the week.

And let's not forget besides the smells, there are the neighbors having sex above you (sounds like 2 elephants mating), neighbors removing your launcry before it's finished below you, and neighbors leaving notes on your back door because they don't have the balls to talk to you. Oh wait, that's my building.
Someday, we will have our own homes!!
my neighbors upstairs had a knock down/drag out fight last night at 3 am, that sounded like they may fall through the ceiling onto my lap at any time.
There were many screamings of "I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE" and "YOU NEVER LISTEN *THUMP*"
Really, I alternated between calling the police, and lobbing a hand grenade up there.
But, in the end, I just went back to sleep.
*sigh*
you ladies are making me feel bad about complaining about a little smell in the hall!
My last apartment tops the cake. Jeff and I were watching a movie and snacking on popcorn when about 100 squad cars, SWAT and Federal Agents pulled up out front and arrested my neighbors for a meth lab and haboring a fugitive. We decided then and there to break the lease and buy a house in the country... which we did.
I think the meth lab wins! I'm not even going to bother about how a neighbor in my college apt complex took a sh:t on our doorstep.
