this past weekend was Massachusetts "Sales Tax Holiday Weekend" giving all shoppers a 2-day break from the usual 5% state sales tax.

now, we all know how much i love shopping. and adam loves any kind of good deal. so with our powers combined we did some SERIOUS damage this weekend.

it also helps that alot of stores were having crazy sales in addition to the no-tax-deal.

our purchases included:

1) a new living room set from Bob's

2) a new kitchen set (with 4 chairs) from Bernie and Phyl's

(and can i just tell you how bad i wanted to pit Bernie+ Phyl against Bob's. like we applied for financing on Saturday at Bernie+Phyl's and they approved us for a large amount. and then when we went back on Sunday to purchase the kitchen set they had lost our information and i was gonna be all like "well at BOB'S they gave us better financing ANYWAY so we'll just go back THERE and buy our kitchen set!" and then they would have been like "no! god no! we'll give you whatever you want just PLEASE shop here!" and we would have been like "throw in that fabulous Pine china hutch and we'll call it even" and they would have said "sure!".

unfortunately they located our misplaced information. lucky for them! )

3) a new dinnerware set (4 pc, 6 setting)from Pier One + carafe and dipping bowls.
(and a special thank you for the most thoughtful person ever, Andy, for getting us the mugs and inspiring us to complete the collection).

4) assorted soaps/moisterizers/cleaning stuff from Williams Sonoma (50% off!)

in the end, we saved ourselves around $250 with the tax free holiday and associated sales. not too shabby especially since it was all stuff we would have bought anyway!! and we have a some lovely new furniture that arrives on Friday the 26th which works out fabulous since I already had that day off.

(of course if the kitchen set and the living room set arrive at the same time that might present a problem. but i will be so hungover from a special fancy night out at the Seaport Hotel the night before (with Andy, Danielle and Sarah K) that i probably won't care. or else Adam will come home and find the kitchen table in the living room and a couch in the kitchen. )
