tell me if this makes me a snob:

if someone is talking about how they have no money, but they are well dressed/accessorized then it endears them to me. if someone is talking about how they have no money and they are dressed badly/smell, it repels me.

snob? yes? no?

SNOB! Hahaha, you feelin all flattered now huh? Just kiddiing you know. I just love it when they talk about having no money, dress well, use food stamps, then go get in their Mercedes, Cadillac, etc. I guess I am not the type that knows how to beat the system. I do love people that do not have money, but somehow always look like a million bucks! I wish I was on of them.

it's like the saying "it doesn't matter how you feel as long as you look good" which is nice in theory but so fake. Most people are more comfortable with the lie. If it's snobbery, it's an epidemic.

I feel the same way as you, but I do think there's a limit... for example there is an intern at work who is always complaining about how little they pay her (I mean, HELLO! I would've killed for $8 an hour as an INTERN!) yet she carries around a giant Gucci bag and wears Chanel sunglasses that she obviously could not afford with a student's life ... I'm all for the help of parents but I feel those things should be purchased if you can truly afford them. they're luxury/status items for a reason, and all these high school and college girls carrying around Louis Vuitton and Gucci just cheapens the brands for me, I think. so when I can finally afford to drop a few zeros on a beautifully crafted leather good, I want it to be a symbol of my successes, not the size of my parents' trust fund... am I alone in this? maybe I'm just a jerk. or just bitter :-)

it depends on the person. if they actually can be defined as poor, i might not mind the dressing badly (the smell thing is another story, as there are always ways to prevent yourself from smelling bad even if you can't dress yourself!)... but other than that i'm not sure there is an excuse. so, i'm gonna go with that it's not snobbery. people just need to have more self-respect!
