i have a new reccomendation for Bostonians/people who live around Boston:
on saturday Adam and I headed into Boston to take a tour of the Sam Adams Brewery in Jamaica Plain. I was expeciting it to be alot like the Budweiser tour we went on last spring, but this brewery is alot smaller, and the tour is alot more personalized. we opted to go for the last tour of the day, which was at 2PM (the other two Saturday tours are at 12PM and 1PM).
anyway, i definitely reccomend this tour to anyone who likes beer or who likes free alcohol. the brewery is easy to drive to or to take the T too, the tour itself is interesting, you learn alot about the founder Jim Koch (who is a really cool guy) and about the beer brewing process. they make the tour last long enough so you learn something, but it's short enough so you don't have to wait too long for the best part..the tasting room!
they herded us all into rooms set up to look like pubs, and we got to sample about 4 six ounce glasses of different Sam Adams beer (i'm embarrassed to say that i was pretty buzzed...but i think everyone was if the volume level in the room is any indicator!). the bartenders teach you the correct way to sample beer, and then play Sam Adams trivia games with t-shirts as prizes! I am not even the biggest beer fan but i have developed new appreciation for this beer, given the amount of effort they put into it and how much they love it. The White Ale in particular was delicious..very light with floral notes (haha, thanks tasting lesson!) then on the way out was the obligatory stop at the gift shop Adam and I purchased some pilsner glases and gifts for our family. and then it was off to be buzzed in the gorgeous sunshine.
so, I now <3 Sam Adams.

I agree about the Sam Adams tour. I've been twice and it's a great time. The guides are very down-to-earth and funny, and the tasting session is fun (I got a bit of a buzz myself, don't worry). Highly recommended.
You mean Sam Adams didn't found Sam Adams? ;)
I wonder how many times they'll let you take the tour in the same day ...
