i had an epiphany the other night regarding this:

this is something i felt that i have needed ever since i moved out of my parents' house. my mother has one, all my aunts have one, it's a NECESSITY.

look at all those attachments! and look at that sturdy arm. that mother can CHURN.

(and it comes in pretty colors too)

so i have been trying to convince Adam that we need one for months now. and always there is something more neccessary in the immediate future: like a new coffee maker or curtains, which take precedence over this beautiful stand mixer. and i could just go and buy one myself, but 1) i have difficulty spending that much on something that i can't wear and 2) i think all large (and adorable) household items should be a joint venture mostly because of reason #1.

but alas, we have lived in our apartment for 5 months and no Kitchen Aid mixer in sight

(i am working on it though)

so at the bar on Thursday night, we were talking weddings and i think i was lamenting about how much i want a Kitchen Aid and how that is the first thing i would register for if given the chance and Jeannie's fiancee C was like "why do you need such an expensive mixer?" and i tried to have a good reason like "well, it stirs really well and ahh....hmmm...it's just so damn cute!". to which he replied "it's just a mixer".

and just like that i had an epiphany: it IS just a mixer.

it was like on SATC when Carrie's boyfriend tells Miranda "he's just not that into you." and she has an epiphany of her own on her dealings with men. my dealings with Kitchen Aid have been tainted by my abscence of knowledge of this simple fact

It Is Just A Mixer.

now i will impart my knowledge to other ladies. and when i cruise Linens & Things and see a woman eagerly rushing to click her laser gun on the Kitchen Aid Model KSM150, i will gently put my hand on her arm and tell her "It's Just a Mixer".

(and she will mutter "bitch!" as i walk away, but i will feel good, having spread the truth)

No, it's not just a mixer. My mother had one. It was a member of the family. She even included it in her will. The mixer got my brother.

My mom got one for Christmas and even I use it. It is a mixer. It's not "just" a mixer. If you like to cook/bake (which I think you do) it's an amzing machine. However, at our age for $300- not justifiable. You'll get one for graduate school graduation (I promise).love, Andy Butler
