you know what intrigues/irritates me? when people in certain fields of employment act like they woke up that morning and thought they would be doing something ELSE that day. you know what i mean? receptionists that are pissed about answering the phone? waiters who hate bringing food to people? etc....
i went to another temp agency today, M Staffing, and was a tad late due to my own retardation and inability to follow directions. no more than 5 or 10 minutes though, which i think is perfectly acceptable when one is traveling by public transit. so, i arrive somewhat restless into the office and the receptionist was on the phone..so when i went to tell who i was and who i was here to see..she gave me the pointer finger in the face (you know what i mean..the "hold on!" finger). now, i feel i should mention that this girl was living proof that brown is not the new black. i mean she was wearing brown pants, brown blouse, brown suit jacket, brown boots and even a brown sweater hanging on the back of her chair. i appreciate the coordination but it was a little much. anyway, i finally am able to tell this girl who i am and who i am there to see after 5 minutes of waiting...after which she makes another phone call BEFORE letting the woman i was there to meet know i was there. she was on the phone, talking to god knows who, probably one of her friends about the sale on brown clothes at Tello's, so i waited in the lobby a total of 15 minutes without anyone except Mademoiselle Brown knowing i was there and THUS i was nearly half an hour late for my interview, which is not the best first impression.
luckily the woman who i was meeting was a huge fan of my bag (a reddish leather Alex bag from italy) so all was fine in the end. in fact, i have a temp assignment starting next week to tide me over while i continue to interview. next up: interview tomorrow at children's hospital in boston and interview thursday with architectural firm in braintree.
and tonight: a dinner party at chez jenny (well, chez paul) where a sumptuos feast will be served, copious wine will be drunk and i will present my latest culinary experiment: a French Apple Tart.
