the good thing about not working is that, even though i had a busy busy weekend and am exhausted...i don't have to worry about going to work on monday. ha!
just kidding, i have about 18 hours left of a data entry project due on Tuesday. oops!
but onto more interesting topics, i had my first freelance cocktail waitressing gig this past saturday and i must say, it went famously.
the party was set to begin at 7PM, so i arrived a little before 7 to this gorgeous arabesque Wellesley mansion and met the party host/hostess. The host, R, is a Persian man celebrating his 40th birthday and his wife, D, the hostess, is Lebanese and 5 months pregnant. they have a GORGEOUS house...tons of oriental rugs and interesting sculptres and intricate tapestries hanging everywhere. I was in love. And as we all know, i love the Middle Eastern peeps and they love me so we were best friends right away..and since no one even showed up at the party until 9PM, we sat around in their lovely den, chatting about travel, Lebanon (they are going this summer, I went last summer), how hot Iranian men are (they really are) etc...then the people started arriving and it got NUTS. the brazilian dance music was pumping, the margs and white wine flowed like, well, wine...people were getting down. a karaoke machine was introduced. it was so much fun!! i really felt like i was AT a party, not working at a party. R was very nice, introducing me to everyone, gossiping with me about how his brother has a hole in the butt of his pants (but i was not allowed to tell him). Then the meal was served around 11 and i got to sample some yummy Persian food. Then the Persian dance music started and you know when that happens, the party is REALLY getting started, right?
That's something i love about men from the Middle East. they DANCE. not corny hump-esque dances a la white-hat boys in clubs, not country line dances..just fun looking footworking dancing. and clapping. and singing. it's so festive.
So i stayed until 1AM (2 hours later than I was scheduled to) but they paid me handsomely for my troubles. AND the good news is several people asked for my contact info for future parties. Granted, they were all older men but I take what I can get ;-)
This morning, Adam and I went to brunch at Amanda and Joe's where we feasted on fondue, fruit salad and mimosas. It was very cute even though, with Adam around, the conversation ALWAYS turns to sports..or maybe that is the way it is with all the straights. I haven't gotten it figured out yet. I didn't mind so much during baseball season...because that was kind of interesting...but football is so boring to me. It is too much going on on too big a field. My minute attention span cannot handle it....
and then onto Filene's Basement where we bought tons of new artwork for the kitchen and a cheese tray. which of course necessitated a trip to the supermarket to by cheese and wine, which of course neccesitates me not blogging anymore and commencing wine-drinking/cheese-eating.
my grammar/spelling was so bad in this entry..how the fuck did I get a degree in English?
