so, the woman who will probably be replacing me came in for her second interview today. i can't say that i wasn't a little relieved to see that she 1) had a TERRIBLE boston and 2) seemed slightly uneducated. maybe that is my problem with my job..i am just too damn educated. (is that mean?) i will say this: the prez of my company was supposed to interview her at noon and he called to say he was running late. when i told her, she said "are you kidding me? i'm going to fucking kill him".
riiiiight
anywho, i went checked out danielle's new digs last night. we drank a bottle of wine, talked about life and read aloud from a david sedaris book. one thing we talked about that stuck with me is this word "scene". i hear people use this word in reference to the boston "punk" scene (which i admit i happily know almost nothing about)...as in "omg, he is so scene" and "she is such a scenester" and "i didn't have a good time, it was totally scene".
i have to be completely honest....
this so called scene just seems like a bunch of kids who, for many different reasons, were losers/shit on/not well liked in high school and so have recreated the high school environment, in the context of local music, in order to 1) shit on other people and 2) make themselves feel superior. and why?? because they have bangs? because they they wear pants that don't fit? i just don't get it. it's fun to observe, but when it's described it's really kind of sad.
ok, enough diatribe: time to go dress-shopping with my ladies.
