it's funny to me how people greet you when you answer the phone. most of the time they are looking for someone other than me, but getting this point across is never a simple matter of saying "can i please speak with so-and-so".


there are like "i'm trying to get in touch withs" and the "give mes" and the "i'm looking fors". they rarely say please and they never say thank you. i mean, i would never calls someone's house and be like "give me jenny", so why should calling a business be any different. shouldn't you be MORE polite when calling a business? i think so.


sometimes i mess with them, if they are really rude. the "give mes" tend to ellicit complete ignorance from me. "you want whom??". "i'm sorry, i didn't understand you can you repeat that?" and then maybe i might transfer them to the wrong extension. these things happen though. it cannot be helped.
