a certain newbury street shoe store has fallen out of my good graces and landed with a thud.

last friday i visitied jasmine sola, as i usually do on pay days, and was in the market for some 'roos. i go into this store all the time, and have probably bought 10-15 pairs of shoes there this year. i am accustomed to being treated graciously, if a little cooly in the manner of most clothing/shoe boutiques on this street. i can handle a little bit of attitude. i too used to work in retail and think i was better than everyone else. anyway, within about ten minutes i found the sneaks of my dreams
.
and on top of that they only had one size left...my size! so i exclaimed "i'll take them" and made my way to the register where as usual i had to wait for 15 minutes until someone felt like ambling over and ringing me up. so the price rings up "$60" which is strange since they are marked as "$4o" clearly on the sticker present on the sole of each sneak. when i pointed this out to the cashier she said "ok, you can have them for $40" but another (rather snipey) sales girl came up and said "no, those are $60 shoes!". so i pointed out to her that not only were they marked $40, but all the "Roos were marked $40 as well. so the manager comes over, examins the shoe, puts it back in the box and tells me "these shoes are $60..do you want them or not?" and i did want them! and i don't mind paying $60 but there are principles when it comes to Shopping and i believe the most important one is Do Not Let a Sales Girl wearing Acid Washed Denim Screw You On The Price. so i repeated that all the 'Roos were marked $40, and asked her if they were all actually "$60" too? she told me she only knew that this pair was $60. so with a giant huff and a rolling of my eyes i left the store, walked 5 ft to Thom Brown and paid $65 for the same shoe.

on a lighter note: dunkin donuts has begun using halloween sprinkles on their donuts which can only mean that fall is around the corner. yay for endless good hair days!
