the title of this entry, if i were the type to title entries, would me "pleasantries in Newbury Street"

at my work, we recently bought 3 window boxes of pansies for our windows that overlook the hereford/newbury intersection. they are sort of my pet project in that i thought we should have them, and now we do, so it is my responsibiliy to water them, make sure no one has ashed in them etc...

after yesterdays storm, the pansies are looking a bit ravaged, so i spent some time this afternoon pruning them, just taking off the dead ends, fluffing them, you know... suddenly i hear a voice behind me"

"pruning flowers for a living? how fulfilling"

there was a skinny redheaded girl talking on her cell phone and looking right at me. assumedly bashing my alleged profession of flower-pruning to her friend. I couldn't even think of anything to say so i turned back around.

As Stephanie Tanner would say "How Rude!". i mean, first of all i am clearly not a pruner by profession because i have no tools and am wearing a skirt. secondly, if i WERE pruning for a living i'm sure it WOULD be very fulfilling. Not that someone wearing a vinyl tube top during the day would know anything about what is fulfilling. I'm sure "fullfilment" for you entails multiple lines of coke and a sale at Tellos.
