Props of the morning go to my dad for winning an honorable mention in the North River Arts Society art show. The piece he submitted was a relief made on marble of the Picasso painting “The Old Guitarist" (see below).
It’s sort of depressing, which could also have to do with the fact that he was inspired by the Elvis Costello song “Beyond Belief” and so, appropriately, it is titled “Beyond Relief”. Haha. In any case, he worked very hard on it, something like 26 hours, and so I am happy that he is getting some recognition for it. The reception for all the winners is this Friday and I will be in attendance, happy to know that there is more to South Shore art than “Hull Rules!” graffittied on the wall at Nantasket.
