last night i dreamt that someone sent me $1500 in the mail (why, you may ask? i don't know, these things don't occur to me in my dreams). needless to say i was disappointed to wake up and find that 1) i was not $1500 richer and 2) i had fallen asleep with my multi strand silver necklace on and thus it looks like someone tried to strangle me several times in my sleep.

so last night we had a ladies night a Alba: me, jenny, megs and diana sat around a table of cosmos discussing Bs and our upcoming travel plans for the spring whils listening to the piano player who styles on friday nights and sometimes takes requests. at one point and elderly gentleman and a younger woman claimed the dancefloor and began doing this modified waltz. it was so sweet, gradually you could see every person in the room stop talking and just stare at them out on the dance floor. when the song had ended everyone stood up and clapped, even the piano player! moments like this make me think i am more old fashioned than i let on, if only because i much prefer watching this kind of thing than watching 18 year old hos grind on a dance floor (hence my aversion to nightclubs). at this point, i realize it is time to make a request so i approach said piano player and request "Someone To Watch Over Me" (i was in a very gershwin mood) and no sooner are the words out of my mouth when Sam (which I call him, as in "Play it again, Sam") ushered me over to his side of the piano, handed me a microphone and asked "What key?" because apparently he only takes requests if you provide the vocal accompaniment. iit was all very "nobody gets out of here without singing the blues" from Adventures in Babysitting. Well, not being one to shy away from this kind of oppurtunity: i grabbed the mic, asked for a low key and then miraculously remembered all the words. it was fabulous. if only he had been familiar with the Miss Saigon score, then megs and i would have been dueting it up all night (although i suppose it is not really a duet if we both sing Ellen's part) whatevs.

so i found my old copy of Anne of Green Gables (the PBS film with Megan Follows) and have watched it a few times. It's such a good movie! thank god Jenny has Anne of Avonlea beacuse I am hanging by a thread of suspense as to the fates of Anne and Gilbert (not that I don't know, because Ive seen it 100 times) but still. Carrots!!!
