i am in a reading frenzy as we speak. while on my trip i spent my flights and downtime reading, rereading and obsessing about East of Eden (Steinbeck). I can't believe I have gotten this far in life without having been exposed to this book. I had about 37 epiphanies in the course of reading it and at the end I felt like I had just acquired insight into my own life. It was like reading Faulkner and actually getting it. I love it. Read it, and then participate in the Drunken Girls Book Club in September. You will not be dissapointed.

I also finished Madame Bovary (good, but depressing) and The Nanny Diaries (stupid but adequate beach read) and am now on a quest for something new and intriguing.
