Sunday, Lazy Sunday

Oh Sunday, how filled you are with loafing and bad TV.

I feel bad for people who try and make plans with me on Sundays. They call me and are all "Hey let's go shopping/out to eat/assorted-other-fun-thing-happening-outside-my-apartment and I am all "Um, thanks but I am really not interested in doing anything that doesn't involve sweatpants and Not Having To Shower".

I enjoy being a scrub.

Anywho.

I saw a bad movie today. And not cheesily bad (read: awesome) but straight up not a good movie. It was called No Reservations and its about an uptight woman who learns about life and love after inheriting a child from a dead relative. I liked this movie much better when it was released in the 80s and called Baby Boom. Work Diane Keaton!

Moving on, thanks for all the awesome recipes/ideas, guys!!! I can't wait to try some of them out. Keep 'em coming.

And as a thank you, I will share with you the recipe for the dinner we are having tonight Chez Pink Shoe: Ale Sauced Slow Cooker Pork Ribs.

There are two awesome things about this dish: 1) the ingredients are inexpensive and you probably already have most of them and 2) most of the work is done in the slow cooker, so with a ltitle prep work you can throw everything in, turn the crock pot on and leave for the day.

2-3 lbs country style bone in pork ribs
1 bottle of random beer (ale, stout, what have you)
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp rosemary
1 tbsp olive oil
small bag of baby carrots
3-4 potatoes, cut into 1 inch pieces.

You will want to get this started the night before if you're making it on a work night. Combine the beer, garlic, salt, pepper, rosemary and olive oil in a large resealable plastic bag. Add ribs and squish around to coat. Let marinate in the fridge overnight (or at least 4 hours), turning every so often.

Put the carrots and potatoes in the bottom of the slow cooker. Remove pork from bag and place on top. Pour marinade over everything and cover. Cook on high or 4-5 hours. Or on low for 8-10 hours.

When it's done, you can either serve as is, or put the sauce into a pan and heat over medium heat with a little cornstarch to thicken it and make it into kind of a gravy. DELICIOUS!

You know...it's funny but the first time I saw No Reservations (in the theater) I liked it alot, but now when it comes on television I think it's horrible.

Sounds delish!

The only good part of No Reservations was Aaron Eckhart! I love him.

Um, Baby Boom is AWESOME. I heart that movie so much. I always tear up, at the end, when Diane Keaton comes home, and the little girl looks up at her and says, "Momma!".

Career women can have it all!
