A Milestone!

Working in the construction industry for almost four years now, I am pleased to announce that I have achieved a milestone that is known about by many but talked about by few.

Today for the first time, I said the word "erection" (as in steel erection) out loud wthout giggling. Usually I avoid saying it at all costs. Saying instead "Its the steel uh, thing shop drawings". But today I decided, enough was enough. We're all adults. I can talk about erection all the live long day if I want.

Thank you, thank you. I am proud of me too.

Stay tuned for another four years when hopefully I can do the same with the word "caulk". But I tell you, the day that I was on a site and someone said "Hey SO and So I need some caulk over here", I damn near lost it (and subsequently have not been back on site much since but that's neither here nor there!)

Good for you! That reminded me, there is a relatively famous Missouri Supreme Court case called Hampton v. Big Boy Steel Erection. I've cited it in several briefs, but never had to say it out loud, thank goodness (I'm a lawyer).

Congratulations!!!

I wonder sometimes how the guys in my office can make some of the most juvenile jokes I've ever heard but not even crack a smile when talking about your previously mentioned shop drawings. Practice, I guess.

Thank god! Now I don't feel so silly for cracking up inside when I hear someone wants to be the master bassist in a symphony. In truth I have only heard that once at a music school question/answer session, but let's face it, that was enough.

LOL! Glad I'm not the only giggler out there of such things. I even giggle when someone says "balls" .. yeah .. sad I know.

OH and I've been a lurker for a couple of days .. hope you don't mind :o)

HA, that it great!
I didn't know you were in the construction business! I thought you majored in english/literature? Great to see another female in the business - although I have to admit, I've never had to say erection. Erector, yes. (as in, 'the steel erector should be on site on Thursday')Ha!

Please tell me that you have a pink hardhat for when you go to construction sites. Because that would make my day.

LOL! I used to work for a building supply company and oh the fun I had using the words "caulk," "screw," and "nuts." And let's not forget all the dirty boxes I had to handle. Yep, I am officially twelve.

That's funny. I would totally giggle at said stuff, too. There's still stuff I can't say without wanting to giggle like a girl in junior high.

I was looking for apartments several years ago with my roommate and we came upon Hancock Village. I BUSTED out laughing for no reason - my friends already lived there and I had even been to visit! But that time around, cock just got to me and I couldn't stop laughing.

We all have a bit of child left in us I suppose! :)

Not entirely sure why, but I always thought you were a teacher. Strange.
