My Secret Addction

I know it's bad.

BELIEVE ME I know it's bad.

Everyone tells me that no one with any sense would do what I do. But I can't help myself. It's just so easy.

I am speaking of course of

Saving files to my desktop.

Every week I move the files I have saved on my desktop, OFF my desktop and every week they keep coming back. Creeping across my desktop. Taunting me "YOU CANT ACCESS ME FROM HOME, MOFO".

Yet, as I mentioned, I can't stop.

I realize this entire blog post makes me a giant nerd but you know what - the first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem, right?

OMG desktop-savers drive me crazy. we sometimes have to find something on a colleagues computer (he's on vacation or the like..) and you can't find anything in the desktop craziness... PLUS, you can't access the desktop through the network so i can't get to files i may need without having to physically go to his computer and find them ON THE DESKTOP!

me, myself, i'm a folder-maker. i have a gazillion folders and sub-folders and sub-sub-folders. i actually get kinda nervous when i have more than 30 files or so in one folder that are not divided in sub-folders. i have one "nubbin" folder on the desktop for temp-nubbin-stuff i know i will only need this once, but that's it.

now, if that huuuge comment doesn't make me an even bigger nerd, then i don't know what is... amen :)

I do the SAME THING!! Its horrible... I eventually made a folder on my desktop called "desktop stuff" that when I get a random burst of OCD, I just drag and drop EVERYTHING in there and it makes me feel better about myself that I have a clean desktop again... I really have no idea what all is in that folder because I never even look. Not really sure why I don't just delete it, obviously that stuff isn't even that important.

um.. TMI? :)

Oh dear...desktop savers are an IT's worst nightmare and by far compete with those people who save everything to their C drive and no desktop icon...needles....it's nightmare when you need to find that workspace and recreate something.....you need to break the habit!!!
