Holla

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes / stories of commiseration. I met up with my doctor yesterday and he was sufficiently grossed out by the burn for me to feel quite pleased with myself. In 4-8 weeks time it should be healed and though he tells me I will have a couple of lovely scars I am determined not to. Mederma is my copilot.

And now some bulletins:

*I find it highly annoying when you are training someone at work and it becomes less like they are asking questions because they are genuinely curious and more like they are trying to poke holes in the way you do things.

* Here is my new favorite thing: half a bag of shredded veggies/cole slaw mix + 1 tbsp creamy peanut butter + 2 tbsp soy sauce. SO FREAKING GOOD. A little Asian style slaw always perks up a dreary day.

*I thought I had it bad - my mom's coworker burned her EYEBALL with her curling iron last week. Can you imagine? Try and imagine it. Go on. Picture it

*Do you ever feel, after wearing flats for a while, that you could potentially never go back to heels and be okay with that. I have bought a number of
cute flats in the recent months and after wearing them pretty much exclusively for the past few weeks, I went to put on my high heeled patent pumps today and was like "Ok this is way too much effort for shoes". Clearly I am steps away from strolling in here with some Easy Spirit Walking Loafers
*I totally do not own those Prada flats I linked to in the above bulletin point. It just cracks me up when I read blogs and people are casually like "I was bored so I ordered a pair of (insert super expensive designer shoes). No bigs. Then my husband bought me a Porsche convertible just for fun. I'm pissed though because it's black and I wanted a gray one". And nine times out of ten the people who write those kinds of remarks have anonymous blogs. I'm sure their lives are as fabulous as they say though. Right? FABULOUS.
* Today is MAY! That is kind of nuts.

Hey for burns (take it from the burn QUEEN) my Doc told me Mederma is fine and some people say it works great (I know Diana used it!), but she stands by breaking plain old Vitamin E capsules and using that. Which is what I did on both my stupid burns and they are literally NON-EXISTENT now! Plus once you're finished you can actually TAKE those as vitamins :) Try it out if you feel like it!

You so will not have scars if you use the mederma like a fiend. I had almost 100 stitches in my FACE after skin cancer & plastic surgery and you can barely see the scars.

And I am dying about the shoes. DYING.

If you grossed out your doctor I would call it SUCCESS!!! :)

And yes on the anonymous "I got a Porsche and hate the color" point. SO TRUE.

Oh my! I quite nearly fainted when I looked at the price of those shoes! Do people actually pay more than double a mthly car payment on a pair of shoes??

I agree with Ulli...anytime you can gross out/impress the doctor with the extreme nature of your condition you totally earn bonus points.

Of course, I'm biased because this happens to me a lot. Oh, and the burned eyeball thing? Yeah, my eyes are going to be REALLY twitchy the rest of the day just from thinking about that.

Yikes! Thinking about burning my eyeball makes me uncomfortable.

I definitely think you should get those Easy Spirits. They are super cute and go with so much...I mean black is so versatile! :)

Hope your hand is feeling better!

OK - the eyeball burning thing? My flat iron has a tag on it that shows the iron and an eyeball with a huge red line through it. I was thinking to myself "now self, how in the hell would anyone ever even consider getting that near their eyes" and well, now I know.

1 - totally wooba wooba about the burn on your hand. So sorry. Hope it gets better soon with minimal trace.

2 - applauding my lifelong avoidance of both curling irons and heels.

3 - SO believing that anonymous bloggers have sugar daddies and $80,000 cars and/or shoes. How much do those shoes cost?

OMG for a second there i though you were serious about those shoes. clearly it was before i read the post but i was actually thinking "how am i gonna tell her how ugly those shoes are?" :D also, i totally understand you about the flats. i love how high heels look - mostly on other people's feet ;)

If I could afford those Prada flats, they would be mine in a second!

The "Walking Loafer" what a wonderful contradiction. Gotta go get my Easy Spirit Groove on...

Don't even joke about those Easy Spirit shoes. When I was pregnant with my now 8 year old son, I was so terrified that the moment I had him I would instantly get a short perm and wear those shoes. For the REST OF MY LIFE.
So please take it back! TAKE IT BACK!

Signed,
Still Kickin' it in HEELS!

Oh, the horror of those shoes! Ack! Darling flats do not compare... so enjoy the comfort!

1. Asian slaw recipe - love it.

2. Burned eyeball? Seriously, I think I'm going to throw up. I'm so squeamish when it comes to eyes, I can't even imagine it.

3. I'm the opposite of you with the shoes. I'm a heel girl. Wore heels even when prego. I feel odd when I'm in sneakers and not at the gym because I'm so much shorter. I own not one pair of flats. Not one! Outside of flip flops that is. Can you imagine? So I'm really 5'1 but I walk around most days in the 5'4 - 5'5 area. ;)

Those Easy Spirits are killing me. I'll order up a pair the day I buy white grannies briefs in a three-pack. NEVER, I hope!!
