Wicked Elegant

So, I made an effort to look nice today. Adam and I are going out to dinner after work to celebrate Quincy Restaurant Week and I figured, what the hey why don't I throw on a dress and do myself up nice. So I donned my new favorite leopard wrap dress (with black cardigan over it for work to avoid comments that I got last time I wore this dress to work to the effect of "WOAH SOMEONE IS ON THE PROWL TODAY!" and whatnot), and styled my hair in a cute kind of updo (replete with bobby pins, thanks to my new shorter do) and felt like a stylin' gal.

I breezed into work thinking I looked like this

When a bathroom check a few hours later proved that, due to issues with my part, I really look more like his

Good times.

My hair really hates bobby pins. No matter what I do they end up either falling out if not projectiled from the confines of my coif. If you see me out and about rockin' the bobby pins, stand back. You may lose an eye.

LOL. I hate when I leave the house thinking I look one way and then the mirror tells me differently. Your comparisons always make me laugh.
I've been thinking about you this week because (due to my week-long illness), I now sound just like the creepy wheezy old man on Family Guy! Ew. Thanks for the reference. (o:

I HATE getting comments like that at work! The worst is getting "wow, you're tall today!" (due to heels). I mean, hey, buddy, I don't feel the need to say "Wow, you're short today." Or "Wow, You're the same exact height today."
I mean, we all know what the really mean is "you're a girl and you're tall to begin with and now you are DEFINITELY taller than me and that makes me uncomfortable, so I shall comment on it."

haha Caitlin welcome to my world. I get the "wow you're tall today" all the time" and I usually respond with "Actually I'm tall every day" or if it's a dude "Nah I think you're just shorter today". People love to comment on height if you're tall but if I commented on some of the short people I work with they would probs be offended. "Wow you're looking extremely munchkin-esque today!".

EXACTLY!
I absolutely adore your responses. I will have to borrow them for next time - as long as you don't mind. ;)
Also, perhaps the perfect response (which just ocurred to me) might be and enthusiastic "I know! If we were playing basketball right now I would totally slamdunk on your ass all over the court."
And then just leave them standing there, bewildered, while you walk away with a giant smile on your face.

That made me laugh so hard! It reminds me of how I try to straighten my hair on a humid day and no matter what it ends up looking like I stuck my finger in a light socket!

As someone who's short, I can say that I do often get the "wow, you look extra short today" comments. Those happen when I don't wear heels...

*LOL* Yeah ummm.. bobby pins can be dangerous to [every]one's health sometimes.

caitlin feel free to use them!

jenny i think i actually have said that to a short person before but some of you try to trick everyone and wear 4 inch heels every day so the one day you DONT it is rather shocking. :-P

Munchkin-esque ... love it!! I am 5'11 and if one more person asks me a) do you play basketball or b) why do you wear heels when you are so tall, I may be forced to physically harm that person. Seriously, basketball? Do I look like Michael Jordan, I'm lucky I can carry a cup of coffee to my desk without spillage. I am so not coordinated.

Ok I'm going to stop ranting.
