Pocket Play
As a gal on the go (which I would like to establish myself as despite a propensity toward staying up all night making baked goods), I must have in my arsenal a plethora of ways to entertain myself during downtime. One of these ways is a game I like to call "What's In My Pockets".
To play this game you must meet the following criteria
1) You don't do laundry as often as you should.
2) You keep random things in your pockets.
Here is how you play. As you are walking to a destination, put your hand in your pocket and try to figure out what's in there without looking. Sounds easy right? Let's examine my scores today.
10AM on the way to the Ladies Room: Felt paper in my pants pocket - determined it to be a reciept, but it turned out to be a faded $1 bill (score!).
2PM on my way back from the mailbox: Felt something hard and metallic in my coat pocket - had no earthly idea what it was. Turned out to be a pendant I remember had fallen of a necklace last week. SWEET I thought I lost it!
See? Totally exciting. And productive since being self aware is a positive thing and I think knowing what items are being stored in your clothing counts as being self aware.
Note: Do not play this game with your handbag in public unless you are absolutely sure there is nothing embarrasing in there. Because let's say you decide to use a handbag you haven't used since last year. And let's say a tampon was in one of the inner pockets of it. Wear and tear associated with storage can break a tampon wrapper and you might find yourself accidentally launching an unwrapped tampon missile-style from your purse across the room while looking for your lip gloss. And there is really no good explanation for shooting an unwrapped tampon from your bag.
Especially "Oh I'm just playing a game". Because tampon football is for kids.

haha... great post! that made me laugh!
How come when I play this game it's always a faded $1 bill that turns out to be a receipt and not the other way around?
I am rendered speechless at the last line...
haha i know - i am out of hand tonight. i mean out of POCKET!
I'm not a pocket person but I do find all sorts of interesting things in the interior pocket of my work tote. It's like a treasure hunt!
as someone who has a close friend who hands her things from her store, i will say that i thought i was grabbing some lactard pills and on more than one occasion, i've pulled out either a condom or a vibrating cock ring. no lie. at work. awful. thank you and goodnight! <3 danielle
The mental image of a projectile tampon is going to crack me up all day. Hehehe...
ahahah danielle. that is awesome.
and amanda it's even better if you imagine it with the sound a torpedo makes in movies. :-P
OMG that is hysterical! Thanks I needed that.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hee-hee. Great post. I played that game today! I too thought I had a piece of paper in my pocket, only to find it was $1! Sweet. I like fishing in last year's winter coat pockets. It's like a treasure trove. Sometimes you can find $5-$20 in there and a previously "lost" lipgloss. Sometimes clutter + bad memory = awesome fun! LOL.
I don't play this game very often, but I do get to play the associated "What's in your husband's pocket?" every time I do laundry. I'm excellent at remembering to play the game before I put the laundry in, but the one time I forgot and played after everything came out of the dryer, the answer to the question turned out to be his iPod. Oops.
