Joe Sent Me

You may have noticed a derth of posts over at the Pink Shoe Cookbook this week. Well, between a crazy work week and lots going on in the after work hours, I just have not had time to plan out, photograph and execute any recips worth posting about (except for Krista's Pumpkin Whoopie Pies which I will be posting about this weekend! They were so fun!). To be honest it was one of those weeks that basically every day when you get home you are so drained that what little energy you have left has to go towards taking off your bra, putting sweatpants on, and uncorking a bottle of wine. The fact that I got dinner together at all this week is nothing short of a miracle. I would like to thank the following for making it possible:

Orange Chicken from Trader Joe's
Frozen Organic Brown Rice from Trader Joe's
Grilled Chicken Strips from Trader Joe's
Thai Green Curry Simmer Sauce from Trader Joe's
Frozen Apple Almond Stuffed Pork Chops from Trader Joe's
Lobster Ravioli from Trader Joe's
Assorted frozen veggies from Trader Joe's.

..... Sensing a trend here?

I LOVE YOU JOE!! You make super quick but fabulous dinners possible in my household. And suddenly Imperial Terrace is experiencing a distinct drop in business (and probably an overavundance of crab rangoon).

If you have any TJ must-buys let me know so I can check them out!

Since I shop religiously at trader joes, here are some things I pick up:
-spanakopita
- Tarte d'alsace (an Alsacian pizza)
- Baby spinach and pecan salad kit
- Palak paneer
- Seasoned grilled chicken
- Samosas
- Curried chicken salad

Man, I am hungry...

They have an amazing super thin pizza with ham, carmelized onions, and gorgonzola. I just made it last night and died and went to heaven.
It's a must try!
Their chocolate covered raspberries are nummy too!

Sadly I am deprived. We do not have a Trader Joe's in Albany, NY :( We also do not have a Whole Foods either.

I'm making them right now in hopes of winning my step mother in-law over. She a hard nut, if these whoopies don't do it, I'm so effed.

My friend swears by their spinach dip. I have heard that their boxed soups are very good too (they have a pumpkin one). Which one do you go to, because there are a couple in MA (I don't know which ones!! I just know it's not the Hanover one) that have wine called 2 buck chuck. I have tried it, and let me tell you, its REALLY good for a 2 dollar bottle of wine!!!

I have had 2 buck chuck before and you are right, it is not bad at all! Unfortunately the TJ's closest to me is the one in Newton on Washington and they do not sell booze. :-(

Sarah.
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah.
I am a Trader Joe's ADDICT. Seriously. I also work close to the one in Newton, but I always go to the one in Needham. There are so many things there that I am addicted to, I don't know where to begin.
I always have on hand for the makings of a salad, their: baby spinach, balsamic vinegar & olive oil, feta cheese, toasted almonds, and dried cranberries.
All their nuts and dried fruits and chocolates are To Die For - esp. the dark chocolate caramels, dark choc. pretzels.
Also amazing are their curry sauces, and the par-baked pizza shells.
Their cornbread and banana bread mixes are Heaven In A Box, even for a baking purist like myself.
And girl?
Do yourself a favor.
In the next few weeks they will come out with their Candy Cane Joe's O's. Imagine if Oreo's and Candy canes had illegitimate children. Delicious, sinful illegitimate children.
There are no words - you just have to try them yourself!!

the boxed soups ARE good. I love the tomato soup with a grilled cheese. Perfect! the ravolis are good and their basic tomato basil pasta sauce is tasty when I'm too lazy to make my own. The frozen fish selection is great and I think their sausages are good too (why does that sound dirty?)

I can't say that I care very much for TJ's produce selection but I do like the prices...

I LOOVE TJ's!

My suggestions:
- wild rice pilaf
- 2 different spring rolls: Lemongrass Chicken & Curry Chicken (I think)
- Gyozas
- Edamame
- Sausage stromboli
- Frozen turkey meatballs (YUM!)
- Tomato & roasted red pepper soup

And we get our OJ, milk & cereal there b/c it's HALF as cheap as the regular supermarket
