Bitch On Wheels

People who don’t put their shopping carts in the carrel.

What are you thinking? Are you in such a rush that walking MAYBE 30 seconds out of your way to put your cart away is just too much?

I was raised right – when you are done with your shopping cart you walk it over to one of the many shopping cart stables in the parking lot. You don’t let it adrift in the parking lot for a gust of wind to send it banging into a car . And you don’t block a precious parking spot with it.

And don’t even get me started on those idiots who you can tell are trying to perfectly center the cart in between two parking spots because in their minds they are leaving enough room for someone to pull into the space next to it. Are you kidding?

I am just trying to give you some insight into my mind so you can fully appreciate this story.

So yesterday I am in the Stop and Shop parking lot, righteously walking my cart into one of the carrels and it so happened that I parked in a far corner so I had a bit of a walk to make. It’s ok, though. It’s the Right Thing To Do.

After I place my shopping cart in the carrel, I walk back to my car when a young gentleman on his cell phone in his parked car interrupts his cell phone conversation to tell me rather snottily “You know they have people who are paid to bring those in”.

I smiled and said “Oh I’m not so lazy that I can’t walk a few yards to return it myself” .

His witty retort? A muttered “Well fuck you”.

Charming right? And that’s exactly the kind of person who doesn’t put his cart back.

Don’t be that guy.

That is a huge pet peeve of mine, people who don't return their shopping carts. How lazy can you be?

I think you should have grabbed his cart and repeatedly rammed it into the side of his car. It might not teach him any manners, but it would be worth it for the shock value.

I always put my trolly back but if the fucker doesn't want me to maybe I'll ram it into his car.

Umm well fuck him, ignorant asshole. Karma will kick in and you can bet the next time his is in a parking lot the wind will send a rogue carriage careening into his vehicle.

My poor car was the victim of a horrible buggy incident a week after I bought it 9 years ago.

It really irritates the crap out of me to pull into walmart and see 50 buggies sitting in the parking lot on the grass medians and walk into the store and find none in the buggy depot.

(yes I'm from the south and we call them Buggies)

I make a point to return them to the carraige returns or, if there isn't one available, I return it to the store itself. Free exercise.

Karma is gonna bite that ignorant s.o.b. and I hope more than one cart clips him off at the knees.

Amen sister! I don't mind a little exercise.

Ugh, that's SO annoying, especially when someone leaves their cart RIGHT NEXT TO the cart depot thing, instead of taking the two seconds and sixteen inches to put it away! I don't understand the difficulty of this! Ugh.

AMEN!!

I have a special kind of hatred for the people who are parked directly next to the cart corrall and STILL won't take those three (ish) extra steps to put their cart away.

And a note to that jerk: yeah, they're paid to bring them in FROM THE CART CORRALL! He's also probably the same jerk who has a fit when there is a cart in the middle of the parking space he wanted.

Okay, done ranting now...

I admit, I am so lazy that I aim the cart at the carrel and basically try to bowl it across the parking lot. I never hit a car because I have kick ass aim. I actually cheer if the cart perfectly lines up.

I'd have taken out a pen and written his license number down...and depending on what other obscenities he decided to spew, called...I dunno...I'd have called someone...

Who the hell yells at someone for being respectful??? Oh my god, that guy was an ASS. One of these days, karma will come back to him in the form of a loose cart crashing into his shiney car.
I ALWAYS return my cart. Some a-hole once left a cart absolutely WEDGED between my dad's car (which I had borrowed) and the adjacent car. Try getting out of that without some major scratches. PJ and I think of returning the cart as an excuse to resort to the behavior of 13 year olds. We "ride" the cart like a scooter back to the corral. Fun times for everyone!

Okay seriously. I think everyone here pretty much summed up my feelings on this in a much nicer way than I am inclined to do at the present moment....except to say was that guy FOR REAL?!
He must have been on drugs.
If not, he's clearly a happy, peaceful, and well-adjusted individual. So he's got that going for him...which is nice.

And yes I did hear about Blogtoberfest and well defs keep you posted!! xo

I just stumbled across your blog today, and I love it! I'll def. be back to read more. In the meantime I just want to mention (besides saying that dude was an ass) that the only shopping-cart-abandoners who *maybe* can be forgiven are the moms with like 3 little kids and the jumbo pack of t.p... they just don't have enough hands to do it all and I can see how they might not be able to wheel back the empty cart. But nobody else gets a free pass! ;-)

Ha ha ha. I like Libby's response. That's a pet peeve of mine too. I have 2 dents in my Jeep because of jerks & shopping carts in parking lots.

Great response on your part! I love it. I also meant to let you know that the Stop and Shop in Hingham right over the bridge from us sells a ton of liquor and they have a great wine selection. I remember reading your post on Stop and shop and how they do not have liquor at the Quincy one!Taylor
