When You Left I Lost A Part Of Me
Yesterday after a long day I was psyched to come home, change out of my dress and into my at home uniform (old tank top + boxers) and relax. As I was pulling my dress over my head, I felt something on my ear and heard a ping! somewhere across the room.
One of my earrings had popped out of my ear and flung somewhere across the room.
And these are my FAVORITE earrings that I basically wear every day!!!!
I calmly went over to the other side of the room and looked all over the floor, under the bed and bedside tables, and nothing. I then searched the perimeter of the bedroom and still nothing.
Under the bureau and TV stand: Nothing.
Even in the closet, since the door was open while I was changing: NOTHING.
WTF!!!!!!!!
The maddening thing is I know it is somewhere in the bedroom I just can't find it! They have gone into some other dimension where one of my green flip flops and my black and white shirt dress have gone as well. A dimension within the confines of my apartment not accessible by me (where I once thought the cordless phone went but when we moved I found it in the back of one of my drawers (???)).
And you know, I blame this damn dress I wore yesterday. Not only is it linen and no matter how much I iron it the minute I sit down it looks like a paper bag someone threw out, but now it has cost me my precious earring.
I miss you! Please come back. I promise never to take a dress off over my head again.
UPDATE:
Not that I have given up hope but while perusing at Marshall's on my lunch break I was very happy to find they sell Kenneth Jay Lane jewelry now!

I HATE when that happens! I lose earring backs and earrings all the time that way.
I hope you find it soon!
I love those earrings too! And I've lost one earring about 4? 6?times now (I've had them for a looooong time). You can order just one earring from Tiffany. That's what I've done in the past. I'll hit up the store, with the one remaining earring and then they'll take the one, and in a week or so I can pick up the 'set' (and they only charge you half, obviously). Works out pretty well for me- I have ordered one new pair though, since the one I had remaining was pretty scratched and beat. I currently have (3) of those earrings - you always find one after you replace it!
Good luck searching your room though - that is super frustrating!!
that is good to know, thanks! i just got them for christmas for last year so hopefully I can find the missing one instead of having to replace the set (which I would def. have to do since they are not as super shiny and awesome as the brand new ones). sigh!
GOOD LUCK!!!! Love those!
Those are my favorite earrings too!! I wear them all the time. Like my mom would tell me "Say a prayer to Saint Anthony...." oh and don't vaccuum anytime soon :)
The same thing happened to me a couple months ago with the same earrings! Except I was in my car, not at home. It literally just fell out of my ear on it's own and the worst part is, the backing (easily replaceable) was stuck in my hair but the earring is nowhere to be found. It makes absolutely no sense because I clearly heard the earring hit the door, it's not like it went flying out the window or anything!
Anyway, I will send some good earring-finding karma your way and hopefully it will turn up!
I love those earrings myself bc they go perfect with everything! I am so sorry you...I won't say lost lets say, 'temporarily misplaced.'
Great news about being able to replace one. I had no idea. That is great. I am always losing the ball off of my keyfob, wonder if they replace those?
Hey, if you ever stumble into that "other dimension" will you take a look around for my calculator? Can't find the flipping thing anywhere.
(hope you find the earring.)
Just joining in on the "I wear those all the time" party because i do too. Almost every day - and the matching bracelet. I bet it'll turn up.
Oh and I believe they do replace the screw ball on the key fobs. They're pretty good about repairing things like that. Unlike Coach which is a whole different story for another day.
yes! i wear my bracelet every day too. hence it is pretty damn scratched. does anyone know if you can get that taken care of at Tiff's?
two words: metal detector.
maybe you'll find like $500 in spare change too!
I agree with Jenny. You should get yourself a metal detector and play beachcomber in your bedroom.
Oh...it is maddening! It's double maddening when I lose things because my apartment is ONE ROOM. Seriously, where could things possibly go???
Luckily I rarely wear jewelry, because I would certainly misplace it frequently.
That sucks. I had that happen to me in a classroom I was observing in a few yeas ago. The earring back fell down my shirt, and the front was nowhere to be found! All the students, the teacher and even the custodians were looking for it, but it was lost forever. It was from Tiffanys too, my ex bought me a new one because I was sad lol
Anyways, I hope you find it soon!
The very same thing happened to my mom a year ago. We tore the family room apart knowing her earring had to be there somewhere. No luck .... until last month when it suddenly "reappeared." Have faith.
Oh and to answer your question, Tiffany's will happily shine up your bracelet and get all the scratches out. I've had them clean mine up several times.
Shit yeah Tiffanys will shine your bracelet and charge you an arm and a leg. I take my Tiffanys stuff to our regular jeweler (any jeweler will do it) and have them shine it up for tres cheaper.
OHHHH see, i thought they would do it for free. like as a courtesy to their customers. ha!!
I've learned when things are lost, they will turn up when you are not looking for it - just think of it as adventures in Jewelry... Wear some new (or new in the way of haven't worn in so long it feels like you just went shopping new) baubles and the other earring will come home soon!
I take my Tiffany's silver to the Copley location to get polished; its very affordable; between $5-$10 depending upon if its a bracelet or necklace. They have their own brand of polish, and they buff out the scratches. Its totally affordable and worth it.
you can always go back to tiffany
and pay for half a set and they will send your earring out to the factory...make a new one to match and then you have 2 earrings again
this is what i have been told by a tiffany employee.... i have to do the same seeing as i lost one of my favorite tiffany earrings a year ago......twice i lost the same earring and only found it once
i feel your pain.
jewelry at Marshalls? not at our marshalls! i'm jealous!
