No Cocktails For You!

Last night started off with the best of intentions, those intentions being to drive into the South End, find street parking on Tremont and grab a drink with Jenny before heading over to the Stylefixx party.

I drove in to town around 4PM and snagged a lush parking spot in front of Tremont 647. I called Jenny and she left work to come meet me there for a drink. In the meantime I went for a little walk, took some shitty photos, and enjoyed the nice weather.

Jenny met up with me about 15 minutes later and we walked over the Tremont 647, visions of mojitos in our heads. Those visions were quickly replaced by those of the hostess who greeted us with an "Sorry ladies we don't open until 5PM".

Dissapointed, but not discouraged, we continued on our cocktail quest down a few blocks down Tremont Street to Aquitaine where a lovely sign informed us that they were not open until 5:30PM.

Foiled Again!!

Perturbed, we stalked off down the street a few more blocks and decided 28 Degrees would certainly be open and hadn't I just read about some new fabulous cucumnber mojito they had for spring? Perf! However the location of this fine establisment, which we had both been to on more than one occasion, eluded us and we opted instead to make what turned out to be a three block circle in a barren wasteland of No Bars.

Finally we found the place only to find the doors shut and all the lights off.

What the hell gives!? If that's what you are saying to yourself then you know what we were feeling. What does a girl have to do to get a cocktail in the South End between 4 and 5PM!

Our last ditch effort to go to Masa was also fruitless as we informed they were in the middle of a staff meeting.

I really felt like maybe we were being Punk'd. Or in our case, Drunk'd.

Utterly chagrined. We headed over to the Cyclorama to wait in line for Stylefixx. Where, upon being admitted 20 minutes late, we were informed that it was not uliminted free drinks as the advertisements suggested but rather each guest got two drink tickets and that was it.

AND I HAD TO USE ONE OF MY DRINK TICKETS TO GET A WATER.

Have you ever heard of such a thing?

(So for future reference, Stylefixx < Shecky's Girl's Night Out by a LANDSLIDE!)

So after checking out the vendors and picking up a few baubles we headed over to Dorchester, where you can drink where and whenever you please and had a divine dinner and some lovely white wine at D-Bar where they totally understand that sometimes a girl just needs a drink.

Sarah that sucks! The girls totally told you the wrong thing - you were supposed to get 2 drink tickets but could continue to keep going to them to get more. It WAS unlimited, you could just only get 2 tix at a time. And my friends and I never even used ours - the servers never asked for them.

That sucks that you were told the wrong thing! We actually totally prefered StyleFIXX to Shecky's (although Shecky's bags were better) because it was way less crowded and the vendors were cooler.

oh we ended up still getting drinks from the nice bartenders...but the girls who were working the door had no idea what was going on. we only styed there for 45 minutes and then were totally bored and left

i'm glad you had a good time! it def was less crowded which was awesome.
