Posting on a Saturday, what what!

This is my first jaunt into NaBloPoMo territory. I almost always post every weekday at least once a day, but posting on a weekend is a rarity. Do you feel special?

I kind of do.

So, last night I did what I do every other Friday night, I hung out with Andy. You may not know this, but I am something of a sports widow. Adam plays in an adult Hockey league and his practices are every Friday night from September until April. It ends up working out because on Friday nights when he doesn't have to close the salon, Andy and I hang out. We usually either have a dinner and a movie night at my house, or go to Fox& Hound for dinner and karaoke and THEN a movie at my house. Or dinner and a movie at his house.

Do you sense a theme here?

The past few weeks have been kind of a theme with Hitchcock movies and we watched The Man Who Knew Too Much (which contains my favorite scene in any movie, ever), Marnie and Vertigo. If you haven't seen Vertigo, allow me to tell you that 1) it is awesome and 2) Kim Novak has the most epic eyebrows I have ever seen.

I mean, look at them.

As such, after hanging out with Andy's parents for a while (who I LOVE), snacking on pate and roasted veggies and sipping wine, we retired to the movie toom with a bottle of Beaujolais and watched Bell, Book and Candle which, like Vertigo, stars Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak and in fact came out the same year so the eyebrows are still as epic as ever.

I should be honest and say we don't so much as watch the movies, as we talk over them and pause to muse over a certain hairstyle or outfit or pair of shoes. There was a whole lot of leopard, black and red in this movie, which is my kind of thing.

I really wish hooded capes would come back.

In any case, the clock in the movie viewing room had not been adjusted for DayLights Savings so while I thought it was 11:30 and time to call it a night, it was in fact 10:30 which meant Time To Go To The Ashmont Grill Which we did and sipped more wine and talked shop. Then we purchased a pack of cigarettes and sat at an old bus stop for a long time, just smoking and chatting.

I don't consider myself to be "a smoker" since I don't smoke during the week or regularly buy cigarettes. But I really think one of the finer things in life for me is having a few glasses of wine with a friend and smoking cigarettes while (or after) doing so. I am a better listener with a lit cigarette in my hand.

In any case it was a fabulous night. I heartily reccomend watching Bell, Book and Candle just for Kim Novak's outfits and eyebrows and the precense of a young, super handsome Jack Lemmon.

And now, since I am nursing a slight hangover, I shall retire to the couch and watch another piece of cinematic greatness: Kindergarten Cop.

"Boys have a penis. Girls have a vagina!" = pure brilliance.

Sounds like a fun night, babe. I, too, am a weekend only smoker. It just makes things complete, somehow. ;)

Oh, and this blogging on a Saturday thing is a little weird for me, too. But at least we're all in it together! Nick & I went out to Castle Island and took pictures, which I posted today. :)

You are HI-larious and I can't get enough of your blog. I happened to come upon it because someone left me a message on my blog stating that I might get a kick out of it. Yes, I do.

I have read everything you've posted that will load on one page, but my eyes are beginnning to sting and I really need to take a dip in the dreampool. I will certainly be back (although it looks like you have plenty of regulars coming to read you)!

If you get a chance to visit my blog, please let me know you did. Thanks!

I am the worst kind of sports widow since I lose PJ to his day sports radio job AND his weeknight/weekend Monarch's camra man job.
However, my Andy best-friend-counterpart is in Seattle and you live just a teeny bit too far away (for me being a semi-lazy person). That sounds like a kind of evening that I am DOWN for. I am so jealous. Meep.
