My office needs some sprucing up.

Since up until recently I was uncertain that I would be in this exact office full time, I was loathe to start decorating because it's a little heartbreaking to take all that stuff down. I would know because I came in here on a Monday, hung up halloween garland and pinned my pumpkin decorations on the wall (yes, I am a huge nerd) and the NEXT DAY I had to take it all down because our temp quit. It was so sad.

But here I am in this new, enourmous, high-walled cubicle and I am ready to jazz things up. On my list of potenial jazzy elements are:

The new Oval Kleenex Case. With cold & flu season upon us, it's nice that Kleenex has come up with a product we will all find useful

In 9 different color schemes to brighten up even the dreariest of cubicles (which is probably mine, since it is the exact color of gray that a tooth turns when it dies.) I'm definitely picking up a box or two next time I hit CVS.

And then there are these message boards from The Container Store in fun, punchy colors.
Lately, chartreuse is speaking to me. I have no idea why but I am into it. These boards are magnetic to so you can stick papers on them without using tacks and creating little holes in your documents. Plus it doubles as a dry erase board. So you can write youself little love notes like "3 more hours until martini-time!". Your boss will be psyched.

I am the kind of person who writes everything on sticky notes. I have them plastered all over my monitor, walls, trays, anything that is stationary on my desk is usually covered in stickies, which is why I am very much into these babies from Crate and Barrel.

The colors are adorable too. And this way I can actually see my computer screen.

Sometimes when I am out shopping, I come across a rogue tumbler on sale. It isn't part of a set, and is marked heavily down because it's a little too fun looking to use as an every day tumbler. Well, I buy those and use them to keep pens/pencils/binder clips in:

All of these are from Pier One and are around $2 a piece.

All I need now are some swank file folders from Target

And I am good to go. After I redecorate completely I will post a pic.*

(* I know my nerdiness knows no bounds but if I am going to be stuck in a gray cube with no window for 9 hours a day, I sure as hell better have some bright and fun things to look at)

I'm so jealous that you have the will to decorate your cube... I've worked at my job ofr 5 months now and still not a single decoration, picture, or personal possession to be found in here!

I love decorating my office! I would surely perish away in this sad, soul-draining, grey building if I wasn't able to spruce it up a little!

Seriously, this is the BEST website ever for cute office stuff. Check it out. The mousepads are to-die-for!

jeanne: ha! at my work they pretty much force you to decorate at least a little. my old boss used to say that if you dont have some kind of personal effects, it looks like you are trying to make a quick getaway.

and ali thanks for that site! i LOVE it!

Like the rest of you ladies, I need a homey-looking office. To that end, I have postcards of Edinburgh, Scotland pinned to the cube walls, two plants, a blue betta fish, a picture of my nephew and one of my friend's son, two framed pictures, and a miniature painting that a friend made for me in Italy. Before I moved to this desk, another employee sat here and did absolutely nothing with it. Once I moved here, everyone was like, "Oh, that desk is so nice!"

The only thing of mine brightening up my desk area is a Mr. Winkle calender. www.mrwinkle.com

He's cute! He's hilarious! I will not be ashamed!

I am the queen of decorating the work space...I painted my classroom hot pink, lime green and blue. My dorkiness though is my obsession with glitter. Any office accessory I can find with glitter in it makes my day!!!

All that stuff just for a cubicle? Think of how much fun I'll have when I have an entire classroom!

Yipee!

Although, since I don't right now, I'll have to live vicariously through you.

You weren't in Borders in Downtown Crossing tonight, by any chance? Someone was browsing around there about 6-ish and she looked kind of like you. Wearing pink rain boots.

I'm kind of drunk! But I swear, I thought it might be you.

haha no, it wasn't me. i am always into drunk comments though! :-)

Gotta love decorating the work space... good ideas! I've got pictures everywhere - I've somehow hid the pics of me on a "booze cruise" with friends - though at this place it might be appropriate ;)

When the holidays are behind me, I plan to do a little cube sprucing, too. I'm just too busy these days to pull the materials together.
