this morning, i feel a little jerry springer-ish.
let me tell you why (but i am not supposed to tell anyone so shhh)
so, my brother has terrible taste in friends. i mean this in the nicest way.
and by terrible i mean my brother used to be a B-A-D kid, and he is turning things around and is now a Junior in college and getting a degree in finance so he is trying to make it after all.
which is good.
he still retains his friends from his days as a B-A-D kid and they are not the kind of people my brother should aspire to be. it's okay to be friends with some people simply for nostalgia's sake...but in general your friends should inspire you and be good people, the kind of people who if you had kids you would want to watch them for you sometimes. you know?
anyway, one friend in particular who i will call Zach*. He got his girlfriend Tammy* pregnant and then did something surprising and married her. Not long after their daughter was born, Zach began cheating on his wife/mother of his child with a younger woman. Younger as in 18 (my brother and his friends are in their early 20s). my brother hesitated to share this tidbit of info with me because he knew what i would say, and what i did say. how can you stand by a "friend" who does that? it is so inconsciencable..the very seediness of it all rubs off on YOU for being his friend!! gross.
my brother just says "he's my friend and it's his life".
maybe it is just my control freak nature but i couldn't stand to watch a friend act like that. if i had a girlfriend who was dating a married man i could not be the good friend who sits with her in a coffeeshop and pats her hand and tells her "maybe he will leave her one day". i would be the bad friend who says "you are pathetic" and refuses to allow her to talk about him to me.
is that rough? maybe it is.
i am lucky that my girlfriends are nice girls and not trash that will date anyone even if he is married.
oh and Zach? his wife is pregnant and now so is his girlfriend.
with twins.
so, you know, in some cases you really can't have your cake and eat it too.

At the very least, someone needs to teach Zach how to use a condom.
