let's speak hypothetically for a moment.

let's just say that Person A is sitting at his/her desk , plugging away at work. what is he/she working on? let's make it something banal like stuffing corporate holiday cards into corporate holiday envelopes. and let's say that while Person A is working hard at this task, Person B walks by and notices that maybe those envelopes could be stuffed in a better, more efficient manner. now, instead of telling Person A that there may be a better way to go about his/her job, Person B instead goes to Person D (who happens to be the boss of Person A's boss, Person C) and tells him or her that Person A is simply not doing as good a job as could be done with the holiday envelopes. Person D, who is far too important to have direct contact with Person A but just unimportant enough to be concerned about holiday envelopes, then gets in touch with Person C, the direct boss of Person A, to let him/her know that the envelope stuffing process is being seriously hampered. Person C then emails Person A to say "turn the cards lengthwise instead".

so, instead of B going right to A

B went to D ,and D went to C, and then C went to A

in other words...

thank goodness we are only talking hypotheticals here!
