Why I Hate Getting Prescriptions Filled at CVS
alternatively titled CVS Wants Me To Become Pregnant

First of all let me say that I am a lazy girl. I don't want to drive very far to do the things that I have to do and this includes but is not limited to: going food shopping, getting my hair done, getting prescriptions filled.

So the CVS that is closest to my house AND has drive through prescription service AND is open 24 hours seemed like The Place to get my birth control prescription filled at.
Every month, I realize more and more that this was a mistake.

For one thing, no matter how far ahead in time you call for a prescription, you will have to wait at least 20 minutes when you get there. Even if you call them the night before and say "I will be there after work tomorrow". When you arrive, hoping against hope that you will be able to run in and out, they will tell you "um.....it's gonna be a while".

And I might also mention that I do not take birth control pills, I take a Nuvaring that is essentially a plastic ring whose destination on my body I won't delve into. My point is that its not like they have to count out pills for me. They just have to hand me a box.
easy as pie, right?

right.

and a few times I have called ahead and when i got there, been informed that they don't even carry my birth control. and when i inform them that they do, and that i have picked it up there every month for the past year, they are DUMBFOUNDED.

and here is the best part:

i called last week and said i would be picking it up this week. and so here i am picking it up on Friday and they have my little precription bag all ready for them, but i am confused because usually the pharmacist goes to get it from the fridge and doesnt have it just sitting out for me. it's not supposed to sit out for more than a few hours. and i called it in LAST WEEK. so it has been sitting in that little bag, in the "S" bin since last Saturday.

yeah.

so i asked the pharmacist's assistant about it and she had no idea what i was talking about so i had to talk to someone else and to make a long story short i had to leave, and come back 2 hours later to get a new, actually usable one, since once it is out and about and not in the fridge it becomes unusable.

and if i had not noticed, i would be using a non-working form of birth control for the next four weeks.

so now you get what i am talking about. CVS wants me knocked up.

I'm hip to their game though. and I will be checking any condoms I may have purchased there for pinholes.

it's great! it has the same success rate as the pills but none of the weird hormonal side effects. plus, who wants to remember to take a pill every day? not me!

Yeah, and you should check about the effects of antibiotics on the nuvaring too, this month, since you're sick.

Didn't the pharmacist tell you that?

Sweety pie, There's a 24 hour CVS in Waltham that has been filling my prescriptions with no problem. Switch pronto! They are on the corner of route 20 (Main St.) and Harvard.

You should file a formal complaint! What if you took that and got pregnant? That's insane!

I hope they didn't give you the same one when you came back later!!! *insert horrified face here* They aren't so stupid as to re-fridge that one....are they?

well that was my point. the pharmacist DIDN'T keep it in the fridge. therefore, he/she stinks.
