Success!!
after searching three major department stores, lamenting the fact that every place has either formal ball gowns or slutty prom dresses or mother of the bride matronly two pieces, with no in between, i finally found my dress for Jeanne's wedding in the very last place i looked! (of course)
i wanted something pretty, and fun but not too formal since it's a day wedding. i also did NOT want to wear black since I own a million black dresses and always wear black to weddings and am really ready for a change.
(only mine has a dark chocolate brown background, not cream... i don't do cream. and the roses are darker red......)
it is super flattering and fun, and with the matching rose/red colored peep toes i found, and the vintage red gemstone earrings, my homage to 40's fashion will be complete.

Very Very cute, and the chocolate brown sounds gorgeous. That is the perfect dress for a wedding.

I am currently knitting a 40's inspired sweater for my sister's Christmas present :
