i learned a few things this weekend.

1) wearing stiletto sandals to a party celebrating "Mud Season" is not a good idea, no matter how well they go with your outfit.

2) in New Hampshire, you can purchase a fairly decent bottle of a 2002 Riesling in a Mobil gas station.

3) ham never cooks to completion, no matter how long you leave it in the oven.

4) asparagus really does make your pee smell bad.

i also learned that Easter is an actual holiday that neccesitates the closing of important places like shopping malls and in some cases restaurant. as heathens, adam and i had no plans for Easter other than putzing around New Hampshire (we spent the Saturday night at his brother's place, who lives there), and maybe hitting the mall. lo and behold, all malls were closed yesterday! there was no shopping to be had!

i felt i had a glimpse into the pain of Jewish people on Christmas.

the only open store we could find was unfortunately a Modell's Sports Store (and sporting good shopping is perhaps the only kind of shopping i cannot enjoy). so while Adam shopped for hockey equipment, i soothed my shopping bug by buying a ridiculous amount of things at apparently the only other store open in New Hampshire: PetSmart. there i bought some glamourous new accessories for the fish, and all the neccessary items for building and installing my own birdhouse outside of our kitchen window. (i won't go into details, but it involves copious amounts of double sided tape).

and then, figuring if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, we bought a ham and headed home.
