i have to warn you, if you are as shopper like me, who really appreciates a good deal..then you may want to take a sedative before you read on.

last night after work i hit up the place for which my hometown is most famous, the South Shore Plaza. my mission was clear: to get fabulous birthday gifts for my boyfriend's sister-in-law, (and my good friend) Beth . her birthday is today and Adam and i will be heading to New Hampshire for the day/night tomorrow to help her celebrate. it was imperative that Beth gets an EXTRA fabulous gift, because she shattered her shin on Superbowl Sunday and just got out of the hospital yesterday. so the girl needs a little....no, ALOT of fabulous in her life, now.

so, i headed to Macy's with the intention of getting Beth some kind of cashmere, since she has none and that is kind of a travesty. plus, this is an excellent time of year for deals on cashmere.

althought it took me a while to locate it, i found the afamed sale rack in the INC section of Macy's..where there were lots of gorgeous cashmere sweaters just waiting for me to purchase. there were polo necked ones in pastels, and cowl neck ones in brilliant jewel tones, and turtleneck ones with little ribbing running throughout..

sigh.....

(this was hard for me, because i am working very hard on not buying things for me, when i should be buying things for other people.)

so i soon located the perfect one for Beth. it was black. it was scoopneck. it was a very elegant length. it was dead sexy.

it was on sale for $49.

score! so, not wanting to tempt myself any further with gorgeous things that i shouldn't be buying right now, i made my way to the cash register. where i found out that it was not actually $49.

it was $25.17!!!!

so of course this meant i could go back and buy myself one ;-) because, i mean i was going to spent almost $50 anyway, and this way i could maintain that price AND get myself a little prize for being such a good bargain hunter, right?

so, glowing with the satisfaction of a good deal and new cashmere, i headed downstairs to the jewelery counters to see if i could find some swank earrings to match Beth's new swank sweater.

(there are all kinds of sales going on in that department now through Valentine's day. I saw gorgeous pearl earrings for $40. I saw white gold hoops for$38. it was crazyness.)

to make a long story shorter...i got a pair of gorgeous, dangly (but not too dangly) gold earrings laced with diamonds and blue topaz, marked down from $120...for $23!!!

i'm telling you; it is good to be good. Adam is lucky to have me. and so is Beth..or else she would have gotten her 3000th gift certificate to Applebees tomorrow.
