the birthday wrap-up
first of all, thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! you are all cute :-)
my birthday , and in fact this weeknd in total, was awesome. i woke up late on friday, made myself a birthday mimosa (or 2 0r 3) and got ready to celebrate my day all day long. adam and i went out to breakfast at bickfords (ihop was closed due to an exploded water main, good times), then went shopping for a birthday outfit and matching birthday clutch, then went out for lunch at Joe's Bar & Grill, then went shopping for birthday shoes (i got THE most fabulous shoes from Macy's..pointy toed slingback stilettos....see below only mine are the most gorgeous cool metallic mint green)
i wore them all weekend now and am even wearing them today..with my new black pants and v-neck-black-top-with-satin-ribbon-running-down-the-middle and black rabbit fur scarf. they are, in fact, say-something shoes
then once i was all shopped out (it CAN happen), we went home and rested up for a fabulous dinner with all of my girlfriends (and Andy!) and their beaus at the ever-swank Fox & Hound where our bill in the end was astronomical but the drinks and food were so great that it was worth it. i finally tried duck for the first time, and i give it thumbs up. although that may be the three martinis in a row talking. i THINK it may have tastes like pork.
i have to take a moment and thank all of my girlfriends and Andy for coming out on Friday. you're generous gifts and hilarious cards and just your overall fabulous precenses made this the best birthday yet!
after dinner, adam, jenny, diana and danielle and i headed over to Fuji Sushi Bar to meet up with danielle's brother and his friend karen. it has to be mentioned that jenny, who is intent on finding Diana "a man" approached a man at the bar in her usual I Do What I Want fashion, who she thought would be suitable for diana, only to find out that he was a new england patriots foot ball player Dave Givens. he was a nice guy, but i think a REAL local sports celebrity would have bought the entire birthday party a round of drinks, but that is just me. it was still good times. and you know you are either 1) in a nice place or 2) so drunk that you don't care about what is appro, when you begin to order cigarettes with your wine (" I'll have a glass of pinot and a marlboro ultra light, please!). at least it worked ;-)
the rest of the weekend was fabulous as well. on saturday we woke up semi early (and i totally skipped my stats class...hey, it was my birthday weekend!) and after lounging for a bit we hit the mall to use the Crate and Barrel gift certificates I had recieved the night before (thanks girls!). we left the store with a new wok & accessories, a fancy wine vacuum-sealer, and stainless steel measuring cups with STILL enough left over to go back and get some placemats ;-) then we went out to lunch where I test drove my new signature drink: the Tom Collins (thanks Capella!). this drink is great because it is made with gin like a martini, but is kind of citrusy and fruity without being girly. and you can drink a few of them without becoming beliggerant..unlike the gin martini. plus, it comes with a cherry!
then at night we went to his brother's house in NH to have dinner with his parents where i scored some more fabulous birthday gifts (adam's sister-in-law's twin is a licensed beautician so she can shop at all of those salon stores that don't let regular peeps in but charge 1/2 price for their goods..so i know own a large array of fabulous hair products that i could never afford if i had to buy them in a salon) and then after dinner, Adam and i went to Strange Brew in manchester to meet up with Nicky, PJ, Zach and Kate and assorted other NH-ers for a long night of drinking, laughing and criticizing the fashion choices of those around us (something that is VERY easy to do in the basement of this bar/restaurant. i will say this: do not dare to encroach on our established territory (table) if you are wearing something that looks like a hypercolor sweatshirt)
anyway, it was awesome.
and yesterday i did something i havent done in a looooong time on a weekend day: i lounged. for the past 4-5 weekends i have had so much to do on the weekends (i know, shopping shoudn't count as something you "have to do" but this is how i roll). so on sunday, i lay on the couch with my laptop next to me, and watched 3 lifetime movies in a row (and one was 4 hours long! that is some serious lounging!). then i felt bad and picked up our place a little, and at night adam made us some delicious barbecue steaks.
and here i am, at work, after such a fabulous weekend. luckily wearing my birthday shoes makes it all seem a little more tolerable ;-)

adam was my birthday chauffeur and a damn cute one at that ;-) he took me out to breakfast, shopping, out to lunch AND he surprised me with a big bottle of my favorite perfume: Lacoste "Touch of Pink". :-)
wow, i thought i was the only one who liked tom collins'. i am the only one in this city anyway... sounds like your birthday was fantastic! love the shoes.
Too cool! Almost makes one forget they're getting older!

almost, garrison....until one is reminded by commenters in one's blog! :-P
What a fun birthday weekend! I'm so happy you had a great time. :)
David Givens? Wow..... I mean, a real sports celebrity would have bought a round of drinks, but a New England Patriot has to be celeb enough after the Super Bowl win!
