The Pink Shoe Diaries

this post was partly inspired by diana's update on her spectacular personal ad.

i am a craig's list afficianado. i look for jobs in the career section, i found my current apartment in the housing section, i have bought knock off designer purses from the clothing/accesssories section, and i love love love the "casual encounters" section. not so much for the purpose of having casual encounters, but mostly because i love to read them out loud to others (namely adam). i have always loved reading personals, but these are a whole 'nother story. with headings such as "Just Want to Eat a Woman for Hours" and "Take a Kerry Supporter's Virginity!!" and "Anyone want to Toss my Salad?" how can you really go wrong?

what's hilarious is that it's nearly solely men posting here. i suppose this is because, for a woman, getting laid is simply a matter of sitting at a bar and waiting, wheras for men it may be a slightly less simple process. it probably does seem like a good idea to stay at home, and post something along the lines of "Looking for a Quick Fuck in Framingham".

But doesn't sort of defeat the point of a one night stand? i mean, it's one thing to be like "i went home with this chick from the bar"...it's quite another to have to say "i posted "Looking to Do It in the Butt" on craig's list and this chick from JP responded so i met her at the dunks on the corner and then we came back here". but on the other hand, one gets to have a one night stand without doing the work of actually going out to meet someone to have the one night stand with.

so i suppose this is just one more thing that technology has made simpler for us.
