the people's court is actually quite good. judge millian is no wapner...but she'll do.
this is my musing for the day.
anyway, last night i had danielle, jenny and diana over for dinner. we feasted on chicken parmigiano and garlic bread followed by lemon sorbet in a blackberry sauce. somwhere along the line we also polished off three bottles of red wine. i will say this about my friends: they can certainly put away the vino!
so, among other things, we discussed the maturing of our phone etiquette. i am trying to teach myself to say "take care" at the end of phone conversations because it sounds nice, and less fake then "have a nice day". i have a whole melange of words i use on a rotating basis in professional phone conversation. i am trying to weed out the use of "awesome" which pops up entirely too much...but the word "wonderful" sounds forced, as does the word "lovely". you know, as in
Me: "I would like to order such and such amount of something
Vendor: "We can have that to you by tomorrow"
Me: "Awesome!" (or "Lovely!" or "Wonderful").
It would be nice to have a response to good news that sounded 1)natural but also 2) educated. so far this seems impossible. especially today, when i was called back to a second interview for an admin position and i exclaimed "splendid!"
who even says splendid?
what's next??
Employer: we would like to have you come back for a second interview tomorrow morning
Me: Splendiferous!!
