the lady-parking attendant in my garage never speaks. well, almost never. in the past 11 months, only three things have illicited speech from her

1) the sun: "it's sunny today!"
2) my green sequin flower pin :"i like that shiny!"
3)toots and the maytals

the last item is mostly due to the musical influence of chris, who send me a fabulous mix CD a few weeks ago. the song "pressure drop" by toots particulary stood out to me and as such i have been downloading like crazy. i made myself a fun mix which alternates ella fitzgerald and toots and every day that it as been playing in my car when i drive through the ticket booth, she has smiled and said "i like that!". so i am thinking of actually making her a toots mix.

anyway, last night was further experiments in domesticity. the lesson learned will be filed under "Red Wine and Baking Don't Mix", which is to say there is a direct relationship between how much pinot noir you drink and how lopsided your star sugar cookies come out. when what should be a star comes out as a circle, put the cork back in the bottle and call it a night.
