i really think that trying to find a parking spot near work is a metaphor for life. you start out at the bottom of a very long, busy street: knowing that your destination is at the end. you rush a little, anxious to get there in time. you pass lots of open spaces, that would be really easy to take but that would require a long walk to the end..so you hold out for something better. as the end of the street (and your place of work) approach: you get nervous. suddenly there are no more spots and you wonder if you should have taken one of the easier spots you saw earlier..even if they werer farther away that you'd like. you press on: hoping against hope that a spot will be available right next to work, because right now you are seeing nothing. suddenly you arrive, and there is a big, shiny parking spot right in front of your office. you have been rewarded for your patience! you held out for what you really wanted and you got it...all it took was a little faith and determination!!!
however this metaphor for life does not include walking up the stairs to the door, dropping your keys and exclaiming "fuck it!!!" only to notice a client waiting for you to let him in.
