i Looked Good when i left the house this morning. i swear i did! for the first time in a few months i had blown out my hair, it looked fabulous, i'm wearing my flattering turquoise and black shell top. i was ready to dazzle. then, of course, i stepped on the train and all hope of Looking Good faded in an instant when i realized, as the doors slammed shut, that the heat was on full blast. As the moist smell of pits descended on me, i felt my hair begin to frizz in protest, and by the time the train rolled into JFK Umass (a mere 5 minutes from the T stop I get on)...it was a lost cause. i was red-faced, swaety and i'm pretty sure my eyeliner was doing that Cleopatra Eye Thing and making a beeline for my ear.
in any cae this neccessitated some serious recovery work during the Green Line portion of my T ride into work. thankfully this train was air conditioned and not as crowded so i scored a seat as well. i set to work immeduately: whipping my compact out, smoothing my 'fro, beating it back into a clip, applying lip gloss... i was a tornado of cosmetic activity. I got the distinct impression that people standing around me were not amused by my vanity but they were not victims of an early morning heat wave, so screw 'em.
as my stop approached, i packed up my goods and headed for the door. there, poetically, was a large pink sticker stuck on the door that said "You Are Superficial!".

kind of appro, don't you think?
