blogger, much like myself, was being a beast this morning. i wanted to update at 9 when i came in, but alas, i had to wait until now. whatevs

this week has been very strange indeed. first of all, i was struck with an violent case of Boredom With Life on monday afternoon, and thus took Tuesday off to recouperate via ice cream and a visit to the beach. I returned to work on Wednesday to find picketers had descended on my place of work. Apparently, my boss got himself into some trouble with the US Attorney's Office in the early 90s (my "some trouble" i mean almost 120 counts of money laundering) because of his dealings with a Steve "Rifleman" Flemmi". this is not a secret in my office, nor is it a secret in the world because if you google my boss's full name the 3rd and 4th and 5th items that appear refer to this "trouble" he had, and how he was originally convicted and sentenced to 10 months, but on appeal was completely exonerated. this exoneration came to pass about 4 months ago, so one wonders what took these picketers so long to gather outside our door with signs that read "Boycott XXXX Real Estate Franchise! Did you know that some real estate brokers are affiliated with Whitey Bulger and Steve "The Rifle Man" Flemmi if ORGANIZED CRIME". kind of a piss-poor sign if i do say so myself, but then again what do you expect from the fomer biggest cocaine dealer in New England/ mob snitch who was recently released from prison and has a jealous bone to pick with my boss? to make matters worse, people were calling and coming in last night to get the story on what was going on. i was fielding calls from so-called clients who would say "i just walked by your office...what the hell is going on?"and towards the end of the day i got some calls about fliers being handed out on Marlborough St that said my boss is a convited cocaine dealer/mob affiliate (neither of which is true). it was all very dramatic, and very annoying. picketing is all well and good but aren't there more worthier causes to be protesting? i think so...

i have no illusions, i know what kind of place i work in (lest we forget the bicycling wiseguy incident with his threats of the "real estate blacklist".

on another note, i am very close to getting The Boot put on my car. i currently have 4 unpaid parking tickets (one of which i am contesting...who gets a ticket for parking more than a foot away from the curb? i thought that was a joke!)..and i recently learned that 5 unpaid tickets earns you The Boot. it's just very hard to park in Back Bay, especially Newbury St. the meter maids here are vigilantes, and cannot be reasoned with. more than once i have sprinted to my car to add quarters and seen one of them WAITING at the meter for my final minute or two to run out. they are soul-less people: whose only purpose in life is to make you pay $25 for being a minute late putting a measly quarter in.

of course if i actually PAID my parking tickets i would have more of a reason to b*tch. As it is they are merely brightening up my glovebox.
