Wicked Cool in Manhattan

My mom recently unearthed a cahce of old photos in the attic and gave them to me to sort through and figure out what to do with. I am in the process of uploading some of them into Flickr, but some are worthy of more in depth analysis.

When I was 13, my mom and I went with my friend Lindsey and her mom for a vaca in New York City. Four gals taking the town by storm! We did all the touristy things, dined out, hit the boutiques and all around had a fabulous time. Being that this was 1993, I am sure I was dressed to the nines for our various chi chi activities.

And here I am retiring from high tea at the plaza. My shorts I am sure were the appropriate ensemble and I would not be surprised if the annals of fashion history in New York were disrupted by a brief striped short phase in 1993.

But what am I wearing on my face. What shades be those? Gucci's latest? Dior's finest?



Oh no, that would be some Lennon chic right there. I bought those sunglasses form a street vendor and wore them every day until the fell apart. And even then I am pretty sure I toddled over to Claire's at the mall and bought a similar pair. I felt like I was THE height of soho chic sophistication in those shades. Look out world, I am thirteen years old. Hear me roar.

Looks like I was not the only thirteen year old thinking this look was tops.
